Celebrate National Ramen Day with us 🍜 From the unforgettable #HFWF24 Lucky Dragon with Martin Yan & Friends at @maunakeahotel , @chefroyyamaguchi brought the heat with his VIP style Ramen Bar—layered with lobster, king crab, Chinese five-spice pork belly, yakitori beef sticks, soft-boiled egg, black garlic, chicharrón, all swimming in a rich truffle broth. It was bold, indulgent, and exactly the kind of culinary creativity we love to celebrate at @hifoodwinefest ! Who’s ready for more like this at #HFWF26👇 #nationalramenday #hfwf26 #celebritychef

Congratulations to Cohort 17 & 18 graduates of Cooking for Healthy Kids! 🎉 The Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kapiʻolani Community College, in partnership with the @theculinaryinstituteofamerica , is making strides in enhancing Hawaiʻi’s school food system through the CIP x CIA Workforce Development Program. In this cohort, 14 dedicated school food service professionals hailing from seven different Oʻahu schools learned essential culinary skills, enabling them to craft nutritious and flavorful meals using local ingredients. By focusing on these vital skills, the program not only supports improved student nutrition but also fosters strong farm-to-school partnerships. Our graduates are now equipped to make a positive impact in their schools, helping to cultivate healthier futures for our keiki 🌿👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

A special mahalo to Chef Roy Yamaguchi for personally guiding us through the breathtaking new Culinary Institute of the Pacific facility along the slopes of Lē‘ahi. The vision behind this campus — and the world-class kitchens, classrooms, and hands-on learning spaces bringing it to life — is truly extraordinary. It’s clear that CIP will serve as a cornerstone for innovation, creativity, and workforce development in Hawai‘i’s culinary industry for years to come. We’re fortunate to have industry partners and educational leaders working together to elevate Hawai‘i’s food systems and open doors for students pursuing these high-demand, high-impact careers. I’m grateful for the chance to see it all firsthand and excited for what lies ahead. And a fun fact: Chef Roy and I both hail from Camp Zama, Japan — he graduated from Zama High School, and I would’ve been a fellow Trojan had my family not moved to Hawai‘i when I was 11. Instead, I became a Trojan of Mililani High School (where Rep. Grandinetti is a proud fellow alum)! #CulinaryInstituteOfThePacific #HigherEdHawaii #UHSystem #CulinaryArts #WorkforceDevelopment #HawaiiChefs

👩🏻‍🍳🧑🏽‍🍳 Mahalo to Chef Alan Wong and Chef Lauren Tamamoto for bringing their KCC culinary class to visit us here at Sumida Farm. Their culinary students visited our farm to learn more about our farm history and how we grow and harvest our local watercress in order to develop a deeper connection with where their food comes from and an understanding of not just the product, but the people and place behind it. We were honored to host all of these talented up and coming chefs and loved to see how they brought our locally grown watercress to life.

As promised in our Lunch at KCC video tonight’s dinner was cooked by the talented KCC Culinary Arts students. Ka ʻIkena Lauaʻe is truly a hidden gem that’s shaping the future of Hawaiʻi’s restaurant scene. A three-course gourmet dinner that tops out at just $48? That’s a crazy deal! I’ve been following Chef Instructor Grant Sato for a while now and had to check this place out. And honestly, even though the meal is cooked and served by students, it rivals most high-end restaurants on the island. Reservations for Module 2 open on October 30th at 8 a.m., so set your alarm because they’ll go fast for this one-of-a-kind dining experience. Just save a reservation for us! If you’ve never heard of Ka ʻIkena Lauaʻe before… now you know. Share this with someone that would love to try this unique experience and hit the ♥️ button to show us some Aloha. 🌐:/hawaii.edu/culinaryartsprogram-kapcc/ka-ikena-lauae Link is also in our bio if you can't click this one. #HawaiiFoodReviews #KaIkenaLauae #KCCCulinary #KapiolaniCommunityCollege #CulinaryArts #CulinaryStudent #CulinaryArts #Honolulu #OahuFood #Eater

We had lunch cooked by the KCC Culinary Arts students at Ka ʻIkena Lauaʻe! This spot serves as a hands-on culinary lab where students get real-world experience in both the kitchen and dining room. A 3-Course lunch only ranges from $34-$37 based on your entree. Ours was $37 each for the Korean Braised Boneless Short Rib with Ulu Mash and Vietnamese Inspired Grilled Washugyu Bavette Steak. We were genuinely impressed by every dish. The steak was one of the best I’ve had in a while. The Southeast Asian Chimichurri Sauce was the perfect balance of umami and acid. Best of all these students cooked the steak to temp better than most Steakhouses in Hawaii. Overall, it’s amazing bang for your buck and supports a great cause. PS because it's a school you can pay on credit card but not tip. They take cash "tips" at a box by the door with proceeds going towards the culinary program. Reservations go fast and there's limited availability since these are actual classes. I think the website and reservation system need an overhaul. I wish the reservation system would just tell me about alternate availability or just say completely booked. I had to fumble through each day to find a rez. Stay tuned for our next video that will give you a look at Dinner served at Ka ʻIkena Lauaʻe. If you're curious where to park just watch the end of our video. If you've never been to this unique restaurant tap the ♥️ button and share it with someone you'd like to try it with. 🌐:/honolulu/kaikena-lauae/ Link is also in our bio if you can't click this one. #HawaiiFoodReviews #KaIkenaLauae #KCCCulinary #KapiolaniCommunityCollege #CulinaryArts #CulinaryStudent #HawaiiLife #VisitHawaii #HiddenGem #Eater
