Grow Your Own Fertiliser for Free! 🌿 If you’re not growing comfrey yet, you’re seriously missing out. This powerhouse plant is a must-have in any garden or allotment. It’s fast-growing, can be cut multiple times a season, and its leaves are packed with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium—perfect for making your own natural liquid fertiliser. I’ve used a dead space just outside my plot’s fence to grow the seed-sterile Bocking 14 variety. It’s non-invasive (unlike other types), so it’s much easier to manage, but you still get all the benefits—soil enrichment, green manure, compost accelerator, and totally organic plant food your veggies will love. That's it, I've finally taken the plunge and bought a composter. I've been researching different bins for over a year and I've decided the best for me is the Johanna hot compost bin which is 330 litre. If you’re into growing your own, I’m sure you’ll find your way into making your own compost too! As well as all the veggie waste from home, I always take my grass clippings and shredded cardboard to add to my compost bins on the lottie! Grass clippings are so nitrogen rich they need the carbon to help prevent it turning into a soggy stinky mess! I’ve got three dalek style bins that I got through @getcomposting on discount with my local council and all are currently full!
