How dark do you want it? "- Yes." Adding light is nice but removing it can be just as interesting. The experience of real darkness in a cinema projection, combined with sound, is quite powerful. Just keep an eye on your exposure values and ratios. For the water reflections and ripples we really just used water and some china balls. "19 years later." A splash of foam on a car windshield mixed with some red gelled light gives off the impression of blood. Easily one of my favourite shots of the film.
