Wow a fantastic example from
@nanlux_official 🌅 The “Sun” in the Castle Courtyard
Check out how gaffer Ray van der Bas (
@varsbayd ) used the Evoke 5000B to create lifelike sunlight streaming through the windows.
At the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe Abbey in Middelburg, the courtyard’s beauty was stunning, but access was limited—only a single doorway led inside, and it happened to fall right in the line of sight for the shot, posing a challenge for the lighting setup.🏰
💡The Evoke 5000B, paired with the NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector, produced a razor-sharp 6° beam that was then panned across four CRLS 100 #1 reflectors (
@thelightbridge ), precisely directing light through each window. Around 19:00, the Evoke 5000B at full power blended seamlessly with the still-strong natural daylight, as if the last rays of the sun were slipping into the hallway. 🌇🌆As night gradually fell, its output was gently reduced, allowing the shadows to deepen while still maintaining dimensionality.
The entire day-to-night transition was captured naturally in-camera, with the reflectors breathing life into the scene.🔋To keep the composition clean, two Pess Energy Flywatt mobile power units (11kW – 10kWh) were used, avoiding visible cables while ensuring uninterrupted long-hour shooting.
