Some moments from day one of the ASC Master class at the ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood. M. David Mullen, ASC @mdmullen1 and Roy Wagner, ASC @rhwasc led the opening day's instruction, covering historical film analysis, hands-on lighting demonstrations, and a session on working with filters to achieve looks that serve the story. The day also included an examination of the ASC Camera Collection, tracing the history of cinematographic technology from the films that used it to the advancements that drove its development. Mullen and Wagner closed the teaching portion of the day with a Career Achievements session, reflecting on their creative methods, challenges, and approaches to visual storytelling.

"Este año, estamos orgullosos de presentar una nueva categoría: el Premio Internacional Student Heritage Henner Hofmann ASC, dedicada a reconocer por primera vez en la historia del programa a estudiantes de instituciones fuera de Estados Unidos", compartió la sociedad a través de un comunicado.
Dirigida a estudiantes de cinefotografía recién graduados o próximos a graduarse, los candidatos deberán ser postulados por las instituciones académicas, a partir de lo cual comenzará un proceso de selección para elegir a los beneficiados.

Known for his technically rigorous yet story-driven approach, Yedlin’s work spans projects including Looper, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Glass Onion.
For Wake Up Dead Man, Yedlin crafted the franchise’s darkest visual language yet, embracing Gothic textures, shifting natural light, and precisely choreographed sun-and-shadow cues to mirror the film’s tension. Through extensive prep, custom light-control software, and highly repeatable lighting systems built into the church and rectory sets, he and Johnson created an image that feels both meticulously engineered and emotionally intuitive.

The ASC Education & Outreach Committee hosted cinematography students from CSU Long Beach and San Francisco State University at the ASC Clubhouse on May 5, 2026. Eleven ASC members participated in a panel discussion, sharing personal stories and craft perspectives with the next generation of cinematographers. The Ankler @theankler hosted an Art & Crafts Live FYC event at @the__asc Clubhouse, bringing together the craft artisans behind four of the season’s contending series.
Panels featured the teams from Wednesday (Season 2, Netflix @netflix ), Wonder Man (Disney+/Marvel Television) @disneyplus , Paradise (Hulu), and Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat (Prime Video). Cinematographer Armando Salas, ASC @cinesalas and production designer Cindy Chao represented Wonder Man, while director of photography Chris Darnell joined director Jake Szymanski for Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat. All sessions were moderated by Christopher Rosen, Deputy Editor of The Ankler.

ShotDeck x ASC Lookback: Blonde (2022)
Canadian cinematographer Chayse Irvin, ASC, CSC @chayseirvin has built a career spanning features, commercials, and music videos, with credits including BlacKkKlansman and Beyoncé’s Lemonade, alongside ongoing collaborations with artist-filmmaker Kahlil Joseph.
For Blonde, Irvin developed a kaleidoscopic visual language that blends formats, aspect ratios, and color systems to reflect Marilyn Monroe’s fractured inner world. Shooting on the Sony Venice and ARRI Alexa XT B+W, he leaned into digital’s flexibility while crafting custom LUTs inspired by Kodachrome and classic monochrome stocks, creating an image that shifts between elegance and distortion.
