📢 ARTIST EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT We are delighted to announce a major new commission by Hannah Catherine Jones @foxymoron87 to be displayed in Central Court at Leeds Art Gallery this summer. UNEARTHING(S) is the first exhibition in Hannah’s home county and her largest solo exhibition to date. UNEARTHING(S) will explore individual and collective themes of grief and regeneration. Considering personal and cultural losses across space and time, the exhibition draws upon the artist’s own history and experience growing up as part of the region’s Caribbean diaspora. Riffing off Central Court’s chapel-like architecture, Jones proposes to create space for contemplation by using combinations of sculpture, light and sound. UNEARTHING(S) will reference and sample Yorkshire and Bajan culture, filtering it through her unique artistic style, infused with subtle mixtures of poignancy and subversion. 📆 Opening 22 May until 30 Aug 2026 📍Leeds Art Gallery, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 3AA For full details, please see the link in our bio ✨ Artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Jones is known for her use of performance, layered soundscapes and spatial interventions to conjure other-worldly installations. Jones’ work focuses on questions of decolonisation, seeking to disrupt the status quo, (re)centre marginalised voices and create space for collective healing. UNEARTHING(S) is commissioned by Yorkshire Contemporary in partnership with Leeds Art Gallery. It is funded by Arts Council England, Art Fund, Henry Moore Foundation and a Research Support Award from Goldsmiths, University of London. @aceagrams @leedsartgallery @henrymoorefdn_grants #HenryMooreGrants

👀 Spot the difference. Navigating deep grief rn but too enraged not to pipe up… The recent BAFTA editing decisions consolidate that systemically, the BBC does everything in its power to uphold white supremacy. 📸 Still from my intensely decolonial sonic lecture-performance a few years ago @pacegallery (curated by @kj_abudu + still from BBC’s broadcast clip (on iPlayer til recently) when I was a judge on Young Musician 📸: my @divideanddissolve sticker was censored (so much love for Takiaya -always reminding me to keep doing what I/WE do). There was no conversation or even a headsup re the censorship & I didn’t know about it until I saw it broadcast. Throughout the whole filming/broadcast process I rly struggled w/ impostor syndrome (which I leant into 📸) & it srsly affected my mental health. I also had a lot of feelings about the edit + the wider structural problems an institution on that scale should be addressing re access to orchestral music - it hit hard at the time & I’ve not spoken out for various reasons – fear of burning bridges being a big one, I’m ashamed to say… The BAFTAs edit was an intentional move to maintain the status quo – cutting out the end of icon @akinoladaviesjr speech calling for a free Palestine, Sudan & Congo (for “timing”) 📸 whilst leaving in the n-word shouted during MBJ & DL’s presentation segment 📸 is violence on a level that shakes me to my core We’ve entered a point of no return in terms of AI editing capabilities but to know that real people had conversations, 📸 made decisions 📸 & broadcast that edit - knowing & not caring that there would be immeasurable damage reverberating far beyond the broadcast… 📸 its literally kept me awake all night. I guess this is me checking myself & remembering to ALWAYS speak my truth – especially to power. There’s so much global suffering as a result of the intricately woven intersectional web that is the white-supremacist imperialist capitalist hetero-normative patriarchy that keeps evolvin, shape-shiftin & continuing to prevail… Callin myself in to keep fighting & playing my part to dismantle power structures – orchestrally & otherwise & to keep talking about 🇵🇸+ 🇸🇩 +🇨🇩 ✊🏾

The veil is thin... I’ve been pre-emptively grieving dad for a while now - at various points and with various intensities during his heroic 11-year battle with cancer (& diabetes) and the journey into the next realm is currently in motion… Back in April I stood in front of Noah Davis’ Painting for Dad (see last vid) and wept - the epic size of the canvas, the thinness of the paint, the frail patriarchal figure stood on the precipice of the sublime, the unknown, the realm of death… Dad taught me everything I know about music and our relationship is heavily mediated through this shared love. Over the past year I’ve been preparing for his passing, for his ultimate journey, through music: Our Journey Home is Our Journey's End Our Journey's End is Our Journey Home ♾️ Dad has told me that the show must go on… Here’s some excerpts from last years’ @peckhamchamberorchestra  11-year anniversary performance of my arrangement of Alice Coltrane’s Journey with @choir.chiron  @rivoliballroom Come thru next Wednesday 10th December for our 12-year anniversary performance @copelandparkse The show must go on. The veil is thin...

🌕 Giving myself permission to post…an excerpt of a much bigger ting… 🌞 Sun Ra reminding us to never trust the code we’ve been forced to download das the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora, the press wildly misrepresenting - thinking of everyone in JA especially - PCO will be fundraising for Hurricane Melissa support in our next performance (info coming soon)… 🙌🏽 @foluketaylor reminding us to give ourselves permission… profound words of wisdom from her important book 📖 URULY THERAPEUTIC: Black Feminist Writings and Practices in Living Room 📖 looped over layered synths & birdsong (a natural reset for our nervous systems cos our “old brain” deeply remembers & continues to recognise birdsong as a signal for safety…) 🎙️ I asked permission to record her (powerful-gentle, loud-soft, entirely unique) voice in my Lewisham living-room at a Chiron Choir rehearsal session. Sampled in live performance during Act 1 (solo) of 2 (choral) back in April 2025 at the incredible @noahmdavis show at @barbicancentre (thanks to @susanna_idc for inviting me/us)…. 🕊️A post on my beloved @choir.chiron coming soon…
