2025 Rewind / Part 10 (Concerts part 1)
15.02.: RAZEN * ALICE HEBBORN & NAO MOMITAMI @ Stille Post, St. Vith. Hosted by Meakusma
@meakusma
St. With is a sleepy little town in Eastern Belgium, but thanks to the Meakusma people, you can hear some astonishing concerts there! For example Alice Hebborn and Nao Momitani playing a beautiful ambient set, and then Brecht Ameel and Kim Delcours aka Razen performing something that Stefan Schneider of TAL label quite well described as âSuicide meets Hildegard of Bingenâ: old analog instruments like bagpipe, chalumeau and harmonium, meet with oscillator, and tape recorders. Amazing!
25.02.: BĂGAYER * KULKU @ 90mil, Berlin
@kulku_band
90 mil is one of the few remaining true DIY venues in Berlin, and they do a wonderful booking. My first concert evening there in 25 was a double bill with local favourites Kulku and the french sound shamans of Bégayer. Kulku are an ensemble that draws powerful live energy from elements of kraut motorik, minimalism, post-punk experimentation and an appetite for unusual sound devices. I experienced Bégayer for the first time, and they were incredible! Such an entrancing live presence and power. Ancient musics meet raw noise, spiralling rhythms and a love for the grotesque. Memorable!
19.04.: JEUGDBRAND * HWYUIOD * ROXANE MĂTAYER @ Volta, Bruxelles, Belgium. Hosted by Futura Resistenza and Kraak.

This was a truly enchanting musical weekend in Brussels with Futura Resistenzaâs Nele and FrĂ©dĂ©ric. This evening kicked off with a performance by Jeugdbrand, which was a kind of experimental opera combining sound, movement, masquerade and stage design. This was followed by HWYUIOD, the trio of Tom Val aka Orion, Shelter aka Alan Briand, and Thomas Riguelle: shrouded in fog, dubby shoegaze motorik embedded in distorted guitar drones filled the room. Roxane MĂ©tayer concluded the evening with the presentation of a quadrophonic sound system made of self-built wooden speakers, through which she played field recordings from Shikoku, Japan, and her violin. A totally fullfilling evening!
