on may 24th we are hosting a sunday full of live music from a selection of our Berlin-based artists, alongside a couple of favourite international acts. we’re super lucky to have everyone on board shaping something perfect for the chin-scratchers, head-rollers, and slack-jawed braindancers.
forget shoegaze, navelgaze, immersive haze but bring on the squinted-gaze: that feeling of “I’m struggling to perceive everything I’m hearing, but I like it.” a new kind of bassface haha, for the ambi club deep-listeners.
we encourage you to leave the pretension at home and come chill, but without the need for nonchalance.

Gravity Pleasure welcomes Maude Vôs for their most intimate EP offering to date, Medicinal Properties. Dripping in serenity and grounded in connection, Medicinal Properties is a musical elixir concocted with the healing modalities of the natural world and derived from the intentional planting and nurturing of sapphic seeds. Through minor modes, swimming cinematics and mineral rich textures, Vôs traverses an ecosystem of sensuality and bonding, a symbiotic journey of long distance love colored and shaped by their affinity for the earth.
Taking root in California and continuing through Ireland, Iceland, and Montreal, the EP translates this cross-continental connection by blurring the lines of timezones, genres and natural landscapes. Inspired by sea swims, country oyster cottages, diner pancakes, snow flurries, geothermal soaks, mossy mornings and adventures to igneous formations, Vôs invites you to experience this potent body of work, which forms the harmonious emotional bedrock of both kinship and creation.

the metal surrounding the pearl
follows its natural curves and indentations.
the pearl creates and follows its
own set of natural rules,
an earthly amulet is formed.
the pearls sits between the clavicle and shines.” - Z.S.S

🦋 Introducing the instructors for the wonderfully collaborative, 5th iteration of Sonic Worldbuilding and Ableton courses starting next week! There are still a few spots left if you’d like to join us, link in bio 🦋
🦋 Slowfoam (they/them) is a sound-driven artist and educator who interplays the personal, political, and mythical to explore displacement, (re)connection, and transformation. Queering the peripheries of genre, they alchemize the essence of sonic materiality, weaving uncanny reflection zones that bubble with the magic of the in-between.
🦋 Diane Barbé (she/they) explores the intersections of ecology and experimental music, working with field recording as much as with additive synthesis and wind instruments. Her work delves into the manifold practices of musicking, kneading the relationship of sound and time through live looping, stretching and alterations.
🦋 Thom Lucero (he/him) is an interdisciplinary artist, archivist, composer, & improvisor based between Berlin and southern France. His work concerns speculative fiction, the Utopian imaginary, humour, and play, as expressed through sound & music practice.
🦋 Pablo Diserens (they/them) is a field recordist and artist devoted to listening practices, non-human realities, and possible forms of interspecies coexistence. Rooted in ecological engagement and site-specificity, their work emphasizes listening as an act of presence and permeation for a radical planetary interrelation.
🦋 Sk [Rain] (they/them) has a depth of knowledge stemming from producing with Ableton Live for 15 years and working as a software developer on the Live team in Berlin. They spent four of those years working with vision-impaired producers who were learning to use Ableton for the first time, which forced them to learn nearly the entire application, and to get really good at explaining it.
🦋 ophélie (she/they) is a DJ and producer with an affinity for low frequencies, intricate percussions and bass-heavy music in all its forms. They are interested in the fluid & organic aspects of music, achieved through combining layers of sounds and textures, creating (poly)rhythms that draw inspiration from natural landscapes.

SONIC WORLDBUILDING is a 5-week online course for musicians and artists who want to expand and queer their creative process while building resilience and meaningful sound practices in friction-filled times. As a practice, sonic worldbuilding is the art of composing possible futures into being, using sound as a portal and a living ecology that reshapes us on somatic and planetary scales. In its fifth iteration, @slowfoam is thrilled to invite @diane.isadora , @pablodiserens and @sometimes_just_umbrellas to expand on their previous curriculum. Each week is accompanied by exercises and discussions, as well as group listening and feedback sessions.
—
ABLETON: PRODUCTION & FLOW is a 5-week production course for beginner to intermediate Ableton users taught by @slowfoam , @ophelieeeee__ , @pablodiserens , and @sk_rain_ ]. The course is designed for a post-genre approach to creating within a DAW. We will balance practical and technical skills with unique methods for transforming audio, creating organic midi sequences, weaving textures, and building intriguing, flow-based projects. We hope all participants will gain a fresh and invigorated creative practice, expansive production techniques, and a sense of community support.
~~~
The courses are designed to be taken together or seperate. They are open to all, but are intended as a safe space for individuals who identify as FLINTA+ (women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people and all marginalised identities) ~ Please be mindful :)
some reflections from the past 6 weeks while absorbing Aegean textures and patterns of history in water, ice, and EARTH (🙅ICE🙅no, ❄️ice❄️YES!) The world proves ever complicated in the virtue/ideological/classist/racist tug of war; the howling ugliness of greed and control… we carry a deep, aching crevice in our soul. Yet the natural world continually nudges us into its mystical and deep, mysterious and warm, glowing and gooey and effervescent wisdoms, ancestries, and somatic knowledges. Nature is sexy and alluring. Dangerous too, yet undulating with a steadfast spirit far beyond us. It will outlive us, and while we’re here, it can heal us. If we want, we can still choose it ~~ stretch toward the roots of the earth and the vastness of the sky. To choose beauty, joy, and connection in this world is challenging and glorious. My wishes for us in 2O26: Create and be courageous vessels, walk, be still, queer everything, be creaturely, seek out the strange, listen, detach/reattach, suck on icicles, touch mud, hold spiders, plunge into cold water, stay hydrated, rest (before burnout!), sing the patterns of the pebbles, willfully believe - and insist - that everything is still possible.
CHIMERA: A Somatic Practice of Multiplicity
By Lou Croff Blake, Madelyn Byrd
[Abstract]
“Collaborations as Chimera: Creative Duo
As friends and collaborators, our journey that leads to this practice has always been rooted in a shared Earth sensibility. Coming from different disciplines (and many dialectic oxbows), our combined body of knowledge and training spans sound art and music, neuroaesthetics and psychology, sustainability, fashion design, visual arts, writing, performance, and teaching. We funnel this odd multitool skillset in immersive artistic research that attempts to make sense of our place on this planet – developing and sharing practices to situate ourselves in ecology. We’ve embarked on projects that put our bodies skin-to-skin with the natural environment, scraped our knees, and plunged our hands into quicksand. We work with dancers to discover how movement might be a form of listening. We develop DIY meditations to tune into the Other – using each other as lab rats as we explore kinship with unexplainable phenomena. This all may sound very grand and poetic – but a core lesson we return to with every caper is that it is indisputably profound to go play outside.
As our work deepens and matures, and (bless) finds more fodder in humor and absurdity, we come to a state of easy access to our somatic landscapes. Through years of self-guided practice, we are both honed at attuning to our bodies, to our companions, to our environment. And so, sharing these exercises we’ve developed for practicing chimerical embodiment, we invite you into our world where we blur the lines of folklore and science. We invite you to become your own study of cryptozoology, to be generously playful in your speculations, to practice monstering with your friends and more-than-human neighbors. Learning to embody the Other is a method of ecological behavior...”
