Nigeria is scaling up action to reduce maternal mortality and strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare. To commemorate the International Day of the Midwife, the Federal Government unveiled a new national strategy to expand the midwifery workforce, strengthen training, improve deployment to underserved communities, and enhance quality care for mothers and newborns nationwide. From the rollout of the Nigeria Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery 2025–2030 to targeted interventions under MAMII, BEmONC, and CEmONC, the focus remains clear: safer pregnancies, skilled birth attendance, and healthier outcomes for women and children. Because every mother deserves safe delivery. Every child deserves a healthy start. And every midwife deserves support to save lives. #InternationalDayOfTheMidwife #OneMillionMoreMidwives #MaternalHealth #MAMII #MinistryOfHealthNG

Yesterday, I had the distinct honor of formally launching nine transformative projects under the Abuja City Cancer Program (C-Can). This milestone marks the culmination of over 30 months of strategic planning, city-wide needs assessments, and collaboration with our esteemed partners.  We are not just launching projects; we are implementing a comprehensive framework spanning early detection, pathology, radiotherapy, and surgery to ensure that quality cancer care is accessible to every resident of the FCT.  Addressing the cancer challenge requires more than technical solutions; it requires leadership and an unwavering commitment to the lives we serve. As we move into the implementation phase, our focus remains clear: earlier diagnosis, better treatment, and improved quality of life for patients and their families.  My sincere gratitude to the @fmoh_nigeria Federal Ministry of Health, @medicaidcf Medicaid Cancer Foundation, @clintonfoundation Clinton Health Access Initiative, and @ccan_org City Cancer Challenge for their partnership in making this a reality.  Together, we are building a stronger, healthier Abuja. #AbujaCityCancerProgram #cancer #HealthFCT #CancerCare #PublicHealth

Nigeria is stepping into the future of medicine. The Federal Government is advancing efforts to strengthen medicine security and expand access to cutting-edge treatments, including gene therapy and CAR-T innovations, through strategic collaboration with global partners like Caring Cross. From strengthening local manufacturing through PVAC to unlocking breakthrough therapies for conditions like sickle cell disease and blood cancers, the focus is clear: turning science into real solutions for Nigerians. This is how health systems evolve, from access to innovation, from dependency to capacity. #MinistryOfHealthNG #HealthReform #MedicineSecurity
