Nigeria is scaling up action to reduce maternal mortality and strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare.
To commemorate the International Day of the Midwife, the Federal Government unveiled a new national strategy to expand the midwifery workforce, strengthen training, improve deployment to underserved communities, and enhance quality care for mothers and newborns nationwide.
From the rollout of the Nigeria Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery 2025–2030 to targeted interventions under MAMII, BEmONC, and CEmONC, the focus remains clear: safer pregnancies, skilled birth attendance, and healthier outcomes for women and children.
Because every mother deserves safe delivery. Every child deserves a healthy start. And every midwife deserves support to save lives.

High population density is the biggest problem facing African countries. It is the root cause of poverty, affecting families and entire populations, and contributing to underdevelopment, ignorance, and countless other problems. Therefore, the government should implement a one-child policy and distribute contraceptives and condoms free of charge. Reducing the population is the only way for African countries to achieve development. They should follow China's example in its experience with the one-child policy. If the population remains high, it is impossible for a country to develop or escape poverty, underdevelopment, and other problems. The only way for African countries to become advanced and prosperous is to reduce their population to the lowest possible level Another problem is the issue of local African languages, which are useless except for wasting time and effort. They are the cause of poverty, ignorance, and backwardness. Therefore, local languages should be forgotten and replaced with a single language: English, the language of the world, modern technology, industrial intelligence, manufacturing, trade, the present, and the future—the language of quick profits. Education must be developed for all children and youth, and primary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities, must be made more accessible to students in every village and city. School dropout rates must be prevented, and young people must be educated. This is how countries develop: through strong education and a single language—English.
