Two FIT alums. One custom gown. A lifelong friendship. For Anne Hathaway’s 2026 Met Gala custom @MichaelKors Collection look, Michael tapped fellow FIT alum, longtime friend, and renowned artist Peter McGough (@petertmcg ) to create a one-of-a-kind painting on the sculptural black gown. Hand-painted over the course of 60 hours, the gown features motifs inspired by John Keats’ poem “Ode on a Grecian Urn.” #FITNYC @fitalumni

NEW! Have you ever wondered what your fellow alums get up to after they graduate? Us too! That’s why we’re launching a new social series, “Day in the Life of an FIT Alum,” and we’re kicking it off with Daniel Saponaro, AAS Fashion Design ‘02. Daniel is the designer behind Hutch (@hutch_design ), a contemporary womenswear brand known for garments that are as functional as they are luxe. Take a peek into Daniel’s day in the Hutch offices and showroom on Fashion Avenue, located in the center of the Garment District—just a few blocks from FIT. After gaining technical mastery of principles he still uses today, Daniel founded his label in 2010. Since then, Hutch has become a beloved brand at retailers nationwide—you can find Hutch at Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and on the brand’s website. The brand’s effortlessly feminine, size-inclusive designs all start as sketches by Daniel himself, who believes that every woman deserves an “I feel pretty” moment. With bold colors and prints, Daniel’s infectious positivity shines through the collections of dresses, swimwear, and bridal ensembles that emphasize the individuality and spirit of the women wearing it. #fitalumni #fitnyc

At FIT, the dining hall doubles as a catwalk. Students gather to study, laugh, sip elaborate Starbucks creations, and eat the surprisingly delicious fare—all while serving up inimitable style. For Hue magazine, @FITAlumni Amy Lombard (Photography ’12,) captured this spectacular combination of food, fashion, and fun. Lombard is a rising star in the photography world, having shot for GQ, HBO, and Coca-Cola. Recently she photographed Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rico residency for The New York Times, and in 2024, she was nominated for a James Beard Award for documenting food culture. #FITNYC @amylombard

Did you catch FIT alumni @Urvi.Selarka (Fashion Design MFA) and @the.FionaRose (Fashion Design BFA) on @TamronHallShow ’s “Up & Coming Designer” series? We loved getting a glimpse behind the seams, watching their collections come to life on the runway, and hearing each designer speak to the vision, story, and future of their work. And of course, seeing @TamronHall herself in their designs.

While the catwalk is glamorous, eventually fashions have to leave the runway... to walk the red carpet! And for our FIT alumni, you never quite know where that path might lead. At the 98th #AcademyAwards, we saw just that: @MiyakoBellizzi (Advertising and Marketing Communications '11) nominee for best Costume Design for her work on Marty Supreme, sported a Christian @Dior Spring/Summer '99 bias cut gown. @BibhuMohapatra (Fashion Design AAS '00) showcased heritage craftsmanship, dressing pre-show host Tamron Hall in a Fall 2025 gown. In a pre-ceremony event, @NdeyBuri (Advertising and Marketing Communications '19) stepped out in African brand Romzy Studio. Alum Wayman Bannerman, 1/2 of celebrity styling duo @waymanandmicah kept it fun with a custom @LouisVuitton gown for breakout star Chase Infiniti, a garden of Eden dress from @Chanel for Quenlin Blackwell, host of Vanity Fair after-party, and a @Jacquemus sparkle pin stripe suit for two-time nominee Colman Domingo. Just as predicted by FIT alum and style expert Joe Zee (Advertising and Marketing Communications '92) who walked the carpet, the sculptural silhouettes of @DanielRoseberry 's (Fashion Design AAS '08) @Schiaparelli were fan favorites. Fresh off “One Battle After Another” winning the Oscar for Best Picture, we’re celebrating one of its standout stars: FIT alumna Shayna McHayle (Fashion Merchandising Management), also known as @junglepussy , (now frequently shortened to JP). McHayle first created her stage name while thrifting around New York as an FIT student, inspired by punk style and racks of fuzzy animal prints. Years later, director Paul Thomas Anderson loved the name so much he wrote her directly into the film, as a member of the revolutionary group French 75. Today the independent musician, whose work has appeared in “Broad City” and HBO’s “Insecure”, is part of one of the year’s most celebrated movies. Yet another milestone in her creative journey. Four Fashion Design alumni shows. Four totally different ways to do New York Fashion Week. Tula deBaer '25, Yuval Sorotzkin '25, Evangeline Ellingsworth AAS '23 and Noah Savas (Menswear) transformed a Brooklyn industrial loft into a volunteer-powered, self-produced runway moment. Aisling Camps '13 presented in a light-filled space at the Starrett-Lehigh Building, featuring immersive installation elements. Peleg Assulin '25 presented his thesis collection featuring Supima materials inside a Chelsea gallery, complete with live drawing activations. And Talia Abbe MFA '24 hosted a vibrant, curated showroom experience at the Moxy Hotel, set against sprawling Manhattan skyline views. No single blueprint. No one formula. Just vision, community, and FIT alumni making NYFW their own. Featured Designers: @afterwork_runway @tulafaye_ @yuvalsorotzkin @_evviel_ @noah_savas (@ursamajor.workwear ) @aislingcamps @peleg_assulin @taliaabbe (@tabbe_designs ) #FITNYC #NYFW #FITALUMNI
