🌕🌑 Today marks the end of my year of Performance in Practice residency at Somerset House Studios. Full Moon in Scorpio and Beltane Spring peek ~ What a year it’s been!!
Here’s me (&Seán) lapping up the studio time and space - just love working, researching, teaching, performing, conjuring in these spaces. Meeting a new community of artists, attending talks, presentations, performances, drinks, coffees has been such an important an enriching experience to enter for a year. And looking forward to continuing and staying on as a part of this into 2026!

Leading the first week of Morning Class this summer, we have Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome, inviting you to discover pathways into dance and sustaining a dynamic state of movement through attention, sensation and availability⚡️
📅 27 April - 1 May, 10am- 12pm
📍 at @siobhandaviesstudios SE1
🎟️ £10 / £8 with a class card
🔗 Book via the link in our bio
Throughout Fernanda’s classes, you will move in different constellations: dancing alone, with partners, and as a larger group. These shifting dynamics invite awareness of self, others, and the shared space of the studio. You will be encouraged to play with changing pace, finding ground and support, activating imagination, and discovering pleasure in movement. You will also experiment with mark-making and writing, expanding how we experience and express movement.

Last October 2025 through my residency @somersethousestudios I presented research put together into something resembling a new work; set your ear down, set your mind to the ground AGM 2025.
My performance opened the night in the courtyard welcoming audiences into a lively somatic participatory space, before descending the labyrinthine stairs and balconies down into the Deadhouse - an otherworldly secret underground passage way.
This is a new body of work in the early stages. The research began in @moulin_des_ribes_ with @societadelleapi South of France and continued on residency at @shedhalle in Zurich.
The starting point was connecting to the Mesopotamian myth of Inanna’s decent to the underworld, working with solo voice, movement, somatic participatory practices with audiences and recorded/ live echoing sound.
It has been one of the highlights so far of my year’s residency at SHS, and so great working with the incredible team there.
Curator @marina_doriti8 and programmer @mrlaurentjohn - thanks for your trust and support with my sprawling work in these epic and ghostly spaces.
Massive thanks to my producer @sara.sassanelli of @a.l.i.c.e.a.g.e.n.c.y - love our ongoing collab.
Re-cycled costume by @jawaraalleyne
Re-styled by myself.
Thanks to the totally up-for-it audiences.

Working together with @seanbeing for Grounding Practice, part of my year long residency at @somersethousestudios ~ we dove into a new collaboration and performed our work in progress on 6th December 2025. 🍇
Such a rich exchange having not known each others practices prior to the week.
We explored through movement, voice, spatial and body resonance, dissonance, existing and new sound/ music compositions, site and seeing and so much more. 🍇
This is a beginning and would love to continue developing this work with support from other organisations… Do get in touch! 🍇

🔹Last month I was the first of five artists to spend four days in residence at @propositionstudios gallery in - A Perceptual Zone.
🔹Curated by @nissamarianishikawa
🔹I took the time to work with some new research for voice and movement and to invite exchange with audiences in the galleries.
🔹Recently and again I am so thankful for my dance practice as a life long lover, as a way of thinking, a way of situating, coexisting and coming into being with and around changing and fleeting communities and environments. Picking up old tools and pushing into new terrain through cycles of moving, writing, drawing, voicing, speaking and sounding.
‘Dance is where ecological being began: in bodies moving with land, with season, with storm. It traces back to one of the earliest human practices - born from the urgency to respond, to move in step with the conditions of the world. Not separate from the environment but shaped through constant contact with it.’

A PERCEPTUAL ZONE (dance as ecological reciprocity)
Week 1 with Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome
Wednesday 1st - Saturday 4th October
Various timings (see below)
The workshops with Fernanda will extend from her current research into somatic movement and voice practices in solo and group constellations. The nature of the echo and the building of sound worlds will be explored throughout the gallery spaces at Proposition.
Of English-Chilean descent, Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome is a London-based artist, choreographer, dancer, and researcher, creating immersive performances and workshops. With a somatic practice and her process driven approach, she explores the potentials of solo and collective embodied power and the temporary building of micro-communities. Collaboration is key, crafting ecologies of liveness, risk, care, and access. Her work shifts perspectives, rippling between human and more-than-human space-time, approaching dance and voice through the deep poetics of the body and the contradictions of how to be in the world.

(In) Company Morning classes are curated by Lorea Burge as part of their research within the Rose Choreographic School. Lorea invites artists that inspire and complement their practice to facilitate a class at the start of their working studio day. These classes will range across different artistic practices and mediums and are open to experienced practitioners to join in for free.
These sessions will be hosted by Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome. Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome is a London-based artist, choreographer, dancer and researcher.
Fernanda’s classes will work with grounding into moving, and dropping into dancing, through somatic enquiry and in practices of listening and actioning. In the mix will be guided movement explorations, tuning sensory information, moving and witnessing, infant movement development patterns and body work.
To book these free sessions, visit the link in our bio.
