Thanks you so much to @peanutkaiser for sharing these amazing pics of Dad at Alchemy, his studio 3 floors down from the very top of Centrepoint. I first heard of The @kaiserchiefs when Dad took me to Brighton on a school night to the NME tour in 2005 (I would have been 12). Also on the bill was @thefutureheads , @thisisblocparty and @thekillers . I am sure I showed off about to it to my friends at school the next day and I definitely remember listening to “Employment” on my pink iPod mini (4gb) whilst on my paper round. Dad also managed to sort it so I could do my work experience with him at Alchemy whilst I was doing my GCSE’s. It definitely helped me figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. Who else got to tell their teachers that they got to make cappuccino’s for @willyoungofficial and get Shakin’ Stevens his lunch time GBK?
I love my dad. I will miss him every day and would give anything in the world to have everything just go back to normal. He squeezed a lot into his 63 years and never slowed down for anything. I feel immensely proud to hear how much of an impact he had on so many creative peoples lives. On behalf of my brothers and uncle Chris I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has shared messages and reached out. I am sorry if I haven’t responded but I will. Please keep the music going for him.
Dad mastering @thecribs ’ third album “Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever” at Alchemy in Centre Point, 2007. I love in this clip he is trying to influence which tracks get chosen as singles and even what order they should be put out! The tune you can hear him working on is “Be Safe” in my opinion one of the best the band has ever put out. He played this album non stop in the car and is the sound of me and my brothers adolescences. Go listen to the album today if you have never heard it!
Super proud of the @limegardenband album out today! Have been pretty obsessed with them since hearing “Sick and Tired” back in 2021. They have been killing it with every track since then, culminating in “Maybe Not Tonight” on @soyoungrecords . Shout out to @charlie.andrew.12 who in our phone call prior to mastering figured out he actually recorded and mixed my old bands EP a long long time ago (see slide 4). Consider this post a call to arms please all go give it a spin today!
I was going through dad’s filing cabinet this morning when I found this note @johnkeithdavis1 had written about working on @honeymoon ‘s “Born To Die” at @metropolisstudios . I can really read it in his voice also pissed myself at the completely unnecessary shots fired at @beyonce , @ladygaga and @mariahcarey .
Geese (@geesebandnyc ) - ‘Getting Killed’ became one of the most critically celebrated albums of the past year. From early buzz to year-end lists and a BRIT Award nomination for International Group of the Year, the momentum has only grown.
Felix (@felixldd ) sat down with us last year to discuss his process of mastering the record, helping shape the final sound of a project that has travelled far beyond home shores.
Now, we’re revisiting some standout quotes and recognitions ahead of the awards this weekend - wishing Geese the very best of luck at the BRIT Awards 2026!
Happy Birthday @johnkeithdavis1 . We finally took him back to his old flat in Hampstead today, sneaking round the back to get in the garden. Am feeling so relieved and happy. I said the Ho’oponopono prayer which I stole from an episode of The Pitt (dad always loved prestige television) which is “I love you, thank you, I forgive you and please forgive me”. Love ya!
Wanted to share this playlist of *mostly* new music I’ve been listening to and enjoying throughout 2025: https://shorturl.at/fTiyR. Thanks to all the super cool and interesting people that have given me recs and more importantly thank you to all the amazing artists putting their work and themselves out there for our world’s benefit. I’m aware I post a lot about stuff I’ve worked on so also wanted to take the opportunity to spotlight things I’ve got nothing to do with but appreciate and admire from afar!
Step into @felixldd ’s mastering world as he walks us through his work with @geesebandnyc on their latest album ‘Getting Killed’.
A rare glimpse inside the mastering suite at Metropolis Studios.
‘Getting Killed’ — out now on @partisanrecords . Give it a listen. 🎧
