Be part of something special at Culture House Sunderland!
We’re excited to reveal Timepiece, a brand‑new audio‑visual installation created by artists Ross Millard, Jeremy Bradfield and Ben Lawrence.
They’re building a living portrait of Sunderland, and they want you in it. Share your selfies, family moments or snapshots in front of Sunderland landmarks and you could feature in the artwork when Culture House opens in 2026.

English post-punk band The Futureheads hail from Sunderland, consisting of Ross Millard, Barry Hyde, David “Jaff” Craig and Dave Hyde. The band got their name from the title of The Flaming Lips album Hit to Death in the Future Head and list the likes of Gang of Four, Devo, XTC, Wire and Fugazi as their influence.
Since emerging as part of the "angular movement" of post-punk-inspired bands from the U.K. in the early 2000s, the Futureheads have proved they have a distinctive take on that tradition. While the influence of Wire, XTC, and Gang of Four was unmistakable in their spiky guitars and concise songwriting, the intricacy of their music -- which included four-part harmonies and unconventional song structures -- was all their own.
The band are still going strong and have just releases a Christmas album 'Christmas' on Nul Records.
So that’s it from us for 2025 after last nights show at @earthackney in London.
Thanks so much to everyone for the love and appreciation for our Christmas record, we’ve loved the little run of December shows, having a catchup with fans of the band and blasting our way through some Xmas classics.
Same again next year?
All the best!

Cheers to everyone who made it out to @firestationsun for our 2 festive blowouts this weekend ✌️
We had a great time singing some Christmas classics, having a laugh onstage and even enjoyed Jaff’s cocktail ‘moment’ last night. 🍸
We play @earthackney tomorrow and then that’s us done for a couple of months. Looking forward to playing these songs one last time in 2025.
🎸🎄🤘
