After a landmark first visit last year, we’re thrilled to welcome BBC Proms back to The Fire Station on Saturday 25 July, in partnership with @theglasshouseicm .
This year, pianist Christian Ihle Hadland makes his BBC Proms North East debut, joining the @royal_northern_sinfonia , led by violinist and director Maria Włoszczowska.
The programme brings together Mendelssohn, Bacewicz and Mozart for an evening full of colour, energy and brilliance, performed live in the heart of Sunderland.
This Prom will be broadcast live on @bbcradio3 .

We’ve just welcomed our 100th member 🎉
Michael joined to make sure he never misses out on pre-sale tickets and, in his words, because “It makes you proud to see something really good happening in Sunderland.” That sense of pride in what’s happening here is exactly why we launched the scheme in the first place.
We introduced membership back in August after asking our audiences what they wanted from us. More than 600 people shared their thoughts and we built the scheme around that feedback, with early ticket access, exclusive experiences and up to 20% off food and drink across The Fire Station, The Engine Room and The Dun Cow.
To mark the milestone, we treated Michael and his wife, Anne, to a show at The Fire Station and a meal on us to say thank you for their support.
Four months on, we’re 100 members strong and just getting started.

The Sunderland City Runs are some of our favourite events of the year and this year they turn 15.
Celebrate with us tonight after your 5k or tomorrow at the official after-party here at The Fire Station following the 10k and half marathon.
This year - as well as our terrace and The Engine Room bar - we have our Runner’s Retreat marquee at the rear of the venue where you can celebrate with drinks, street food, plenty of comfy seating and the chance to have your photo taken in front of the finish line banner with your medal! 🥇
We also have coffee and breakfasts available before the run tomorrow - where you can collect your last minute numbers.
It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year - let’s do this Sunderland City Runners! 🙌
EVERTON VS SUNDERLAND THIS SUNDAY 🔴⚪
We're moving our jumbotron screen into our FireSide marquee this weekend and screening the full match at 3pm, followed by Newcastle vs West Ham live at 5.30pm. It's at the back of The Engine Room and The Fire Station, just walk through the main doors and out the back.
Expect the biggest screen in Sunlun, a great atmosphere, plenty of seats and a well-stocked bar.
This is the place to be this Sunday for Sunderland's final away game of the season.

Celebrating the life and legacy of a Sunderland music legend 💛
We're delighted to host the Geoff Docherty Memorial Concert: Free and the Fillmore North Story at The Fire Station on Thursday 10 September.
His passion and vision helped put the city on the national music map, bringing music royalty to Wearside and shaping an era through venues including The Bay, The Locarno and The Mecca.
The night will feature Dave Taggart (DanceClass) and Baz Warne (The Stranglers) performing as a duo, plus tributes from Terry Slesser (Beckett and Back Street Crawler), and John Buckton (Freeway).
The event will also feature a recreation of Rob Hutchinson’s original 1960s psychedelic light show, capturing the spirit of the era Geoff helped shape.
Presented with support from Sunderland Music City, this will be a night for friends, artists and music fans to come together and celebrate Geoff’s remarkable legacy.
Profits will go to Alzheimer's Society.
