I'm excited to announce this project! I'm honored to collaborate with Tina during her residency in Homer, Alaska, and really looking forward to DC! As part of the inaugural Transatlantic Stars Visual Arts Cohort, Carla Klinker is collaborating with visiting visual artist-in-residence, Tina Konec from Slovenia.   Transatlantic Stars is an initiative of the European Union Delegation to the United States that creates opportunities for American and European artists to collaborate within the visual arts, film, and music sectors.  Klinker and Konec will travel to Washington, DC to exhibit at the Eaton Hotel, share their experiences collaborating, and participate in cultural tours. They will be joined by European and American artist pairings and the program directors from the four other US residency centers participating in this year's TRSP program

A moving moment of friendship (and an epic feat of athleticism!) from EU Open House weekend ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 edition of EU Open House! EU Open House commemorates Europe Day, aka the anniversary of the signing of the Schuman Declaration on May 9, 1950, which led to the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, a multinational initiative that eventually became the European Union. This year, EU Open House was also the end point to a 17.76-mile run completed by French, German, and American athletes to honor the historic Washington–Rochambeau route and celebrate 250 years of French-American friendship. A commemorative plaque explaining the history of the Washington–Rochambeau route was unveiled at the Maison Française. This initiative was led by the National Park Service, and in particular by Mr. Johnny Carawan, administrator of the Washington–Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail, a 680-mile route tracing the path taken by the troops of Rochambeau and Washington from Newport, Rhode Island, to Yorktown, Virginia.

At this year’s event we celebrated Europe, Sweden, and 250 years of America’s journey. 🇪🇺🇸🇪🇺🇸 Throughout the day, our thousands of visitors got a taste of Sweden at our rooftop café, experience our music, innovation and gaming industry through interactive stations, learn more about how to study and work in Sweden, get creative in arts and crafts with Pippi, and discover the Swedish Footprints in the United States in our newly opened exhibition. 🇪🇺🇨🇿 Thank you for making this year’s EU Open House so special — here’s a little look back at a wonderful Saturday at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, D.C. ✨

🇪🇺🇨🇿 This Saturday, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, D.C. welcomed thousands of visitors during the annual EU Open House 🇨🇿🇪🇺 This year’s presentation was dedicated to America 250 and the historical connections between the United States and the Czech Republic. At the same time, we also highlighted the South Moravian Region, its traditions, and cultural heritage. In collaboration with the @jihomoravsky_kraj_official and the @brnomycity , visitors had the opportunity to explore the NÚLK Strážnice exhibition dedicated to UNESCO heritage traditions and traditional blue dye printing by @straznickymodrotisk . Guests could also explore an exhibition about Vojta Náprstek from the Náprstek Museum and discover Czech innovation with Prusa3D by @josefprusa . Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed premium Czech wines brought to us by @czech_wines , served in glassware from @kvetna1794_ , alongside legendary Czechoslovak beverages @kofola and Vinea brought by @mycrispywafers , the favorite @marlenka.official Honey Cake, delicious Czech pastries from @labohemiabakery , and a wide selection of wines from @spevakwineco . Embassy colleagues introduced visitors to the work of Czech diplomacy, including economic and science diplomacy, consular affairs, and opportunities to study and travel in the Czech Republic with @studyinczechia and CzechTourism. Guests could also meet representatives of @afocrorg and @euintheus or test their knowledge of the Czech Republic in a quiz competition. Families enjoyed a kids’ corner, gymnastics activities with @sokolwashingtondc , performances by both American Sokol Washington, D.C. and Slavic American Sokol, live music by the @thepolkabros , and a special dog show by the Rockville Police Department K9 Unit. We were also honored to welcome the choir from @bohemiamanor High School, who performed the Czech national anthem, @missczechslovakus 2025-2026 as well as the Mayor of Bethlehem. We were also honored by the special appearance of the Ambassador of @slovakiainus and his wife. It was a pleasure to showcase our Embassy and share everything Finnish (and happy) with our visitors. 🇪🇺 What an incredible Europe Day celebration! On May 9, we opened the doors of our historic Embassy for #EUOpenHouse, and welcomed nearly 3 thousand visitors throughout the day! Our guests explored Lithuania’s story in the United States through a special exhibition dedicated to #America250 anniversary, learned more about the Embassy and the European Union, enjoyed traditional Lithuanian dances, songs, and sutartinės, and discovered modern Lithuania along the way. Of course, no celebration is complete without food! Visitors tasted Lithuanian delicacies, including space-traveling snacks from @supergarden.lt and šakotis (a tree cake) baked in honor of upcoming America’s birthday! 🎉 A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring Lithuania to life for our guests — @malunasdancegroup , @lithuanianfolkdance_mituva , choir “Daina,” folklore ensemble “Jorė,” the Washington Kristijonas Donelaitis Lithuanian School dance group “Grandinėlė,” @supergarden.lt and our amazing Embassy team and family members ❤️ Thank you to everyone who visited us — see you next year! 🇱🇹
