EX TERRA Daniele Giannetti × Heiter X MILAN DESIGN WEEK 20–26 April 2026 Alcova — Baggio Military Hospital — Stecca S14 A shared presentation exploring terracotta, mineral composites, and elemental form. Two distinct practices brought into dialogue through material, weight, and gesture — where objects move between sculpture, function, and spatial presence. Set within the raw architecture of the former military hospital, the works respond to the site through texture, density, and silence. Clay, lime, and composite matter holding traces of process, time, and transformation. @alcova.milano @milan.design.week @esedraproject @giannetti.daniele @heiter_x Photography by @acme_superstudio

@heiter_x ’s smaller ritual objects carry the intimacy of things meant to be touched, poetic fragments that slip easily into daily life. They hold symbolic weight in subtle ways: a place to rest a gesture, mark a transition, or simply introduce a moment of stillness into a room. Crafted from hemp, raw clay, glass foam, and other elemental materials, they feel like tiny anchors of presence. Alongside them, her domestic monuments blur sculpture and furniture, offering forms that serve, hold, and support while retaining the quiet gravity of relics. Works like Rauma, a seating object that can also become a side table, are shaped from hand-sculpted hempcrete and finished with subtle layers of marmorino or stucco, materials that lend the piece both its grounded weight and its lyrical, tactile surface. These pieces invite a slower way of being: objects that listen, objects that remember, objects that shape the atmosphere around them with gentle persistence. @kunstitutsioon @katrinaastamatopoulos

In @heiter_x practice, objects emerge like fragments of a remembered myth, neither artefacts nor monuments, but living forms that absorb gestures, accumulate time, and hold space for quiet rituals. Her Mythical Relics and Altar Objects, shaped from cork, raw clay, and natural finishes, feel both unearthed and newly imagined. Among them are Petra and Samma: sculptural objects that blur the line between function and offering. Petra rises like a geological relic, layered, stratified, shaped by imagined winds and waters, a table that behaves like an altar. Samma appears more fluid, a vessel or planter that invites intention as much as use. Together they echo an ancient sensibility: objects that ask to be lived with, not simply looked at. @heiter_x is a multidisciplinary artist who moves between design, installation, natural materials, and food as if they were different dialects of the same language. Her work begins with the living world: raw earth, foraged matter, food waste, and listens for the quiet processes shaping their transformation. Guided by her Estonian roots, she follows the rhythms of seasons, ancestral knowledge, and the rituals embedded in daily gestures. Her objects become portals into slower worlds: places where presence gathers, where materials breathe, and where the unseen comes gently into view. Photos @jannegooiker @katrinaastamatopoulos

The title INTRECCI•INTERTWININGS is a statement of intent: weavings not only of threads, but of knowledge, visions, territories, and generations. The exhibition unfolded along three thematic strands: Light and Ritual, Threads and Weaves, and Matter and Roots which touch, overlap, and echo one another. The selection of artists and designers, all with a strong craft-based approach, stemmed from the desire to highlight practices that engage authentically with these themes. Both local and international voices share a deep understanding of material and a refined sensitivity to territory, identity, and hand-making as a form of storytelling. Collectible design emerged as the ideal language: a hybrid space where craft and concept meet, and where tradition is not simply preserved but reimagined and reinterpreted. It is a form of design that does not seek effect, but meaning, one that keeps ancient techniques alive, restores centrality to material, and transforms the handmade gesture into living memory and cultural expression. @intrecci.intertwinings Works by: @coossmmaa @ducciomariagambi @marcoguazzinidesign @rowan_mersh @benedettamoriubaldini @morghenstudio @milena_paladino @daniele_papuli @vezzinichen @andrea.vitti @andreazambelli_design @mayicestudio @scatter__d @tipstudio_ @6am_glass General Organisation: @meperrotta Logistics and event management: @veratux Curation, Content and Installation: Giacomo Niccolai and @valentina_rito Visitors Management: @marsan2807 Communication and Press Office: @gc_agency Photos: @alba_deangelis and @ana_sanetra_design

Last summer we contributed to @intrecci.intertwinings , a collectible design exhibition hosted in the former Monastero dei Cappuccini in Salve (LE), reopening to the community after nearly a century. Built around the theme of intertwining as a metaphor, the exhibition explored connections between memory, craft, and place. We contributed by defining the curatorial direction and shaping the visitor experience. The initiative is part of a wider cultural and social regeneration programme promoted by the Municipality of Salve with the support of the Regional Council of Puglia. Sowing Seeds - 0.Foreword A long-standing friendship and creative collaboration between @simonefanciullacci and the carpentry atelier @studio_effe has led to the creation of a monumental sofa and a pair of coffee tables - a preview of the upcoming collection, set to be unveiled soon. Inspired by the planks stacked at Studio F’s workshop and the traditional techniques used to join them, Simone designed these pieces with a contemporary approach. Each piece tells the story of Studio F’s dedication to craftsmanship and sustainability, with wood sourced from trees fallen due to natural events or necessary felling. Bar Altravista Le Cavallerizze Via Olona 4, Milano 7-13 April 2025 10am-7:30pm DM for enquiries. - #Design #Craftsmanship #SustainableDesign #FurnitureDesign #StudioF #SimoneFanciullacci #carpentry #Woodworking #mdw2025 #milanodesignweek

_ #esedraproject #studiovisit #tipstudio #contemporarydesign #designers #interiordesign #craftsmanship #handmade

WING coffee table by @marcoguazzinidesign . Handcrafted from Marwoolus®, a unique blend of marble and wool, this piece features an elongated, protruding top inspired by 1950s design. “The material that I called Marwoolus® is derived from everything that makes up my identity, meaning the places where I feel at home, where I grew up and which reflect my very being. Prato, the city famous for its textile industry, and Pietrasanta, the town of marble. So, I decided to combine the materials that symbolize these places, marble, and wool, and fuse them together to produce a new material. I used what is commonly referred to as production waste.” Photo: @makarova.visuals DM for enquiries. #esedraproject #marcoguazzini #marwoolous #marble #wool #collectibledesign #design #craftsmanship #contemporarydesign #materialinnovation #interiordesign #coffeetable
