It’s not often that cinema and sound converge in the way Embryoroom (@embryoroom ) approaches it.
The New York-based artist presents his twelve-track album ABDUCTOR, released through Australian label Stock Grazing (@stockgrazing ).
Developed in parallel, a feature-length film with Stephen Rutterford (@shadowrunnernyc ) extends the same system through self-generated processes, mirroring the record’s logic across another form.
Nothing in ABDUCTOR is incidental. Track sequencing, typography, timing and visual language are all deliberate, with hidden references embedded throughout.
Extended by a seven-track suite of more floor-facing material, the work unfolds as a continuous structure rather than a collection of tracks.

Edward Quist (Embryoroom) at Altar, Melbourne. 20.02.26
“Quist is clearly fluent in club idiom but has little interest in its conventions. ABDUCTOR is cinematic techno in the most literal sense, creating music that thinks in scenes and acts rather than in drops and builds, operating according to dramatic logic rather than dance-floor submission.”
