South Burbage Quarry print designed for our new Common Ground Exhibition at @manchestercraft Through use of LiDAR scanning, I captured the quarry floor back in 2023, before a significant rock fall which happened that November. The scan is accompanied by a selection of ‘Millstone Maker’s Marks’, engraved onto the finished millstones by the craftsman, each of whom would have their own unique signature. The design was screen printed at @crookedcartoon onto Moonlight Silver Peregrina stock to reflect the crystalline characteristics of the Millstone Grit composite. A limited run of these A2 prints are now available to purchase at Manchester Craft and Design Centre.

Artist: Joab Harrison Instagram: @joabstudio Role: Graphic & Motion Design Name of Work: WHP24 ‘Break’ Ident Date: 05 July 2024 Software: Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D “I joined the WHP design team in spring 2023 through an internship. I was 19, in my first year of a Graphic Design degree learning the fundamentals of type layouts and grids. I’d developed a keen interest in filmmaking and animation on my art foundation, as well as a love for electronic music in Sheffield’s Hope Works; hence, at the time, my portfolio consisted of several music videos I’d created for my good friend Euan. The opportunity to design for The Warehouse Project brought my skills and passions together. For the WHP24 ‘Break’ idents, I chose to build on the wireframe characteristics that @acceptandproceed had introduced in the 2023 branding, whilst also exploring the construction (and deconstruction) of Studio Moross and Paul Hemmingfield’s iconic WHP ‘Heads’ logo. These elements aimed to inhabit and reflect the energy, immersion, and togetherness experienced on the dance floor. The animations needed to be striking and enticing as web promos, whilst also being adaptable for use as stage visuals within the venue. This was the first time I was able to experience my work displayed all around the Depot Mayfield space, which felt pretty gratifying. It was also my first dive into 3D, using a beta version of After Effects - trying out some of the Cinema 4D features that weren’t available in the 2024 stock version.” Soundtrack: ‘Routine’ - Skee Mask

𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝟬𝟬𝟰 Super excited to announce our first anniversary event at @stereo_glasgow on Fri 15th May joined by @rapture_4d @redkingonline @p11nklady & @cu_s1th - Massive thanks to everyone who's shown love over the past year! Rapture 4D needs little introduction. As a key figure in the development of neo-grime, the @plasmagram_ imprint founder and former Beat Boss champion has been pushing the boundaries of bass music for over a decade. Boasting a mightily impressive back catalogue with collaborations from the likes of Manga Saint Hilare, P Money and Capo Lee (to name a few), it's no stretch to label him as one of Scotland's most influential grime producers. After materialising out of thin air and spitting a couple of killer 16s back at our second event last September, it felt only right to invite RED KING back into the fold in official capacity. Fresh off the release of his latest EP 'The Dark Before', and with more appearances alongside Rapture than days Glasgow's had rain recently, billing this link up was a no-brainer and certainly one not to miss out! Closing out the night inna maelstrom style PIINKLADY and CU-SITH are taking over the controls for a b2b set that may well overload our 140 speedometer. These two seriously know no limits. Expect a frenetic mix of familiar ink tank styles pushed to their breaking point, cutting through dubstep, jungle and decon club influences. As per, head down early to catch residents M Dalino and Joab open up the floor. Whether this qualifies as a warmup is debatable. A few £1.40 tickets up for grabs on RA, hit the link in bio and come celebrate one rotation around the sun with us! @joabstudio on the stunning poster work once again ❄️ See you front right 🖤 #glasgow #glasgowmusic #dubstep #grime #140

Stairwell (2023) Found this short after some sifting through old work the other day.. At the time I was living in halls of residence in Manchester. Our kitchen looked onto this great building with a centred stairwell and automated lights which turned on as people entered and exited their apartments. After being a little mesmerised by it, I went out to shoot it and turned it into a sort of system of play. Funnily enough I got round to watching ‘Lift’ by Marc Isaacs for the first time last month, a film which similarly looks at a floor-scaling elevation system but in a very different context, worth checking out - it’s a bit better than my rendition. Soundtrack ft. some hums from Sheffield’s notorious freezers.

JAM04 E: Inspired by @rhyw__ - Honey Badger, which pushes the bounds of what should be allowed IMO. Jks… there are no rules and anyone who likes a moan about how pleasant they like their music can do one. Sorry for generic chord progression, this one was all about gating and triggers to get that rhythm! J: I wanted to dig into process this time round with the video. It’s made up entirely of crunched clips of Euan’s audio software(s), combined with a few notes I made myself when storyboarding. I was thinking about @guyfeatherstone ‘s video for @odbpowell - Insomniac, a great take on process led practice. Big thanks @oh_inverted_world for showin me the reference which has been a favourite ever since.

JAM03 E: The source of inspiration this time round was open-source modular synth software (Rack2) generating synths + melodies and some bass from Reasons physical modelling synth (Object). J: Inspiration from the live works of audiovisual innovators @_ryoji_ikeda_ & @akikonkym + @hamill_industries - aiming to capture some of Ikeda’s data driven madness and Akiko’s attention to texture and changing states of matter. #JAMuary

JAM02 E: This beat came about 3 years back after a night at WIRE Club, Leeds. Ears still ringing but inspired to make some heavy 4x4 meat'n'potatoes, I dialled up the saturation on some bongos, found a fort-tetesk snare pattern, and glued it together with a disco loop. J: As for the visuals, I’ve been reviewing some of the influences I first looked at when we started this project in 2023, mostly taking inspriation from the music video master Michel Gondry, As well as looking at Norman McLaren and other early examples of experimentation within the audiovisual arts.
