Usually when we see a before & after collage, it tends to show weight loss, not weight gain. Weight gain is often associated with “letting yourself go” and thoughts like “she used to be so beautiful, what happened?!” I admit I used to think like that too.
This is my before & after, 10 years apart. 16 year old Elise might’ve fit the skinny beauty standard, but 26 year old me feels so much more confident and happy in my own skin. And although most people associate skinny with healthy, I’m definitely much healthier now.
▪️Skinny Elise couldn’t really enjoy life, because all she could think of was what she could and could not eat that day.
▪️Skinny Elise would run 15 k every day until it destroyed her feet. It took 3 years to be able to walk without pain again.
▪️Skinny Elise didn’t get her period for 2 years.
▪️Skinny Elise would eat carrots instead of a proper meal and almost pass out by the end of the day
▪️Skinny Elise’s mood was 100% determined by the number she saw on the scale in the morning.
▪️Skinny Elise was supposed to have the “ideal body”, yet couldn’t stop comparing herself to all the even skinnier models around her. AND she still wouldn’t fit all the clothes the stylists were trying to squeeze her into.
I know it can be difficult to love your body the way it is, especially if you've gained weight. It can feel like a failure when you don’t fit into your fave jeans anymore. But try to remember: we are not meant to fit into clothes, clothes are supposed to fit US 🥰

7,5 years ago I quit modelling and stopped posting on Instagram, hating the way I looked and terrified of anyone seeing my no-longer-size-0 body.
I finally found the confidence to start posting on Insta again last year, and look what’s happening just a year later! The amazing boss woman that is @hookerthebooker believed in me and signed me to her agency 🤯
I’m slightly terrified but mostly hella excited! As you can see I’m still re-learning how to properly wear trousers 😉 but I’m sure I’ll get there eventually!

I first met Elise when i moved to NY. After an amazing start in the Industry she quit due to the pressures this Industry makes on so many. Thankfully now the Industry is slowly becoming more inclusive and allowing models to really be themselves. I rediscovered her recently due to her hilarious videos she posts on her insta (please go look at the one she did when she left London- shes crazy talented). Still a gorgeous soul and love that she trusts me in this new journey. ❤️
