Yesterday His Majesty King Willem-Alexander opened the Ter Borch Year in Zwolle, along with my exhibition Gesina & Gezien Worden, now officially open at Academiehuis – Grote Kerk Zwolle.
Free to visit and on view until February. ✨
The exhibition gives space to Gesina ter Borch, a 17th-century artist who remained unseen in her own time, yet whose voice and drawings still speak today. Through collages, film, fashion, installations and hidden keyholes, her world is reimagined for the present.
Grateful to everyone who has been part of bringing this project to life. Special thanks to all involved in the exhibition and opening, and to Gia Bab for embodying Gesina in the performance and presenting the Ter Borch catalogue.

🍄🟫 ✨ De Wilde Deerne.
A true story, turned into image. A baby girl was kidnapped from a market in Antwerp. Eighteen years later she was found, wild, silent and living in the woods near Zwolle.
This true historical tale inspired a series of portraits. Together with @beeldmix , @anno_zwolle and @collectieoverijssel , I reimagined her journey for the exhibition Turning Pages, shown in 2023.
