THE MET GALA: Rihanna wears custom Maison Margiela for the 2026 Met Gala.
Drawing reference from the Artisanal 2025 collection, the column gown silhouette is founded in the medieval architecture and atmosphere of Flanders, with the constructive drape reflecting the painting of Flemish primitives.
Our Artisanal material exploration continues, with the gown crafted from fine copper oscillating duchess woven with recycled computer wire, cloaked around a bodice made of 115,000 found crystal beads, antique jewels, and chains, crafted in over 1,380 hours in our Paris atelier.
Styling by Jahleel Weaver
SPRING SUMMER 2026: Introducing the Box bag, first seen at the Spring Summer 2026 show. Crafted from soft leather with reinforced edges using a Thermoforming technique.

BIANCHETTO: ATELIER EXPERIENCE
Bianchetto is our white overpaint technique that leaves visible brush strokes and transforms surface into a blank canvas, applied to garments, objects and interiors since 1989. The paint naturally cracks and fades over time, revealing rather than concealing the passage of time and the signs of use.
Details captured behind the scenes at our Bianchetto atelier in Shenzhen show how participants applied the technique to their own garments.

BIANCHETTO: ATELIER EXPERIENCE
As part of MaisonMargiela/folders, we explore Bianchetto, the white overpaint technique introduced by the House in 1989 through which surfaces are transformed into a blank canvas. Applied to garments, objects, and interiors, the paint naturally cracks and fades over time, gradually revealing visible signs of use.
Participants at our atelier experience in Shenzhen are invited to wear the blouse blanche — the white lab coat worn by our team in the ateliers and offices in Paris — and apply the technique to their own garments.

BIANCHETTO: ATELIER EXPERIENCE
As part of MaisonMargiela/folders, in Shenzhen we present Bianchetto, our white overpaint technique first introduced in 1989, leaving visible brush strokes and transforming surfaces into a blank canvas. Participants are invited to transform an item from their own wardrobe using the technique, guided by the Maison Margiela Atelier team. Through the act of covering the surface in white paint, the piece is transformed into a house code, completed with our signature four white stitches.
