Chile ❤️
Every year, Día de la Fauna Chilena celebrates the incredible animals that call Chile home. Founded in 2014 by volunteers of the Jane Goodall Institute Chile, it has become one of the country’s most significant environmental education initiatives, connecting people with Chile’s native wildlife and inspiring action for their protection. It stands as a beautiful part of the lasting legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall, carrying forward her vision of a world where animals and the landscapes they inhabit are fiercely loved and protected.
This year, we have had the honour of working with
@janegoodallcl and
@diadelafaunacl to create an animation that takes you on a journey across Chile’s unique landscapes and celebrates the extraordinary animals that inhabit them. From the Puma in Patagonia to the Mariposa del Chagual, we have poured our hearts into sharing their stories. We were guided along the way by the most amazing scientists (we love you all!) and are deeply grateful to our dearest Dr.
@_annjones_ and
@gambusiamusic for composing the music and soundscape that bring it to life.
Throughout October, this animation will be presented as a large-scale projection at
@mut.cl (Mercado Urbano Tobalaba), a space dedicated to culture, community, and sustainability, right outside the entrance to the metro. MUT brings together people, art, and ideas that inspire connection with the world around us, celebrating culture, nature, and shared spaces. We are deeply honoured to collaborate with MUT and to share this homage to Chilean wildlife with you all.
Having grown up in the valleys that are home to the Picaflor de Arica, and missing Chile dearly, this project is immensely heartfelt. To reconnect with the species of my home through art, and to see them celebrated so proudly, is an honour I will carry with me always.
This work now also carries a deeper meaning, a tribute to Dr. Jane Goodall, whose vision and lifelong commitment to animals, people, and our shared planet made Día de la Fauna possible. It is part of her legacy, and a way of honouring the hope and love she inspired in us all.
Nos vemos en el Día de la Fauna ♥️
