M16 Artspace is pleased to announce the opening of three new exhibitions opening next Thursday, 14th May, from 6-8pm. ⭐ Gallery 1 | The Quiet Between M16 Artspace Studio Artists The Quiet Between is a group exhibition bringing together M16 studio artists, aiming to create a space that is not predefined, presenting artistic practices that engage with diverse dimensions of landscape, material, memory, and perception. The exhibition cultivates a quiet and open environment in which meaning gradually emerges through attentive viewing, encounters with artworks, and sustained observation. ⭐ Gallery 2 | Blockwork Fiona Little Fiona Little’s exhibition Blockwork examines the interplay of light, shadow, and geometric form. Using controlled lighting, simple wooden blocks are transformed into architectural structures where negative space becomes integral. The work reflects an interest in repetition, balance, and material presence, inviting close attention to texture, tone, and spatial relationships. ⭐ Gallery 3 | junkyard Charlie Jay and Grace Walters What are we building for? And where are we going? As we strive for progress and abundance, are we failing to appreciate what's already there? And do we really know what we are creating? The natural and the constructed worlds are at odds with each other, and a growing junkyard spirals out of sight and out of control. Put on your hard hats - it's sure to be a wild ride. As always, a big thank you to our sponsor, Quarry Hill Wines @quarryhillwines and Heaps Normal @heapsnormal for keeping our glasses full! 🍷🍻 💌 RSVPs are not essential but welcomed. See you there! 🔗 Click the link in our bio or head to our website to learn more! Chutespace | Murky Water Julie Bradley The form of the oyster is a sensual and distinctive one, which is described in this little folding book using free flowing gouache lines. The brackish water where there were once mangroves and an abundance of food, is now a popular bayside swimming beach and public park. Remnant middens are evident all around this area where you can see the remains of many kinds of shellfish including oysters. ✨ ⏳ Final Days ⏳ ✨ Don't miss out on seeing M16's current exhibitions before they close tomorrow! 💎 Sentient | Elliott Fox Sentient follows Elliott's current art series on greyhound advocacy, and looks at the sentience of all non-human animals as deserving of the same care, protection and love as any other family member. Artwork mediums include impasto paintings, screen prints, and an installation. 💎 Shorelines | Helen Brancatisano, Miriam Cullen, Trish Yates This exhibition of works on paper showcases three very different artistic responses to time spent alongside the changing moods of the coastal landscape on the NSW Central Coast over the course of two years. 💎 Bloom | Eggpicnic Bloom explores the persistence of life under pressure. In a time shaped by colonisation, human conflict and the consequences of climate change inaction, it draws attention to animals that survive within fragile and changing environments. 💎 Partial Index | Dörte Conroy With this new body of work, Dörte Conroy introduces collaged imagery drawn from a collection of documentary photography spanning the late nineteenth century through to the 1990s. 🔸 Exhibitions close 5pm Sunday 10 May 🔸 M16 Galleries are open Wed - Sun 12-5pm 📸 Brenton McGeachie

A closer look at what you’ll be working with in Nick Offer’s workshop this May 🎨 Participants will be asked to send through two images ahead of time — one figurative and one landscape or cityscape. In the workshop, one image will become a more resolved image transfer piece with a subtle abstract underpainting, while the other is used for a more experimental approach — using stencils, varied tools and layered paint to build a more expressive surface. On Saturday morning, you’ll sit down with Nick to decide which image suits which process — a key part of shaping how each work develops. 📍 16 & 17 May 2026 🎟 $229 Members | $289 Non Members Canberra Art Workshops A weekend of experimentation, layering and letting the process lead. #CanberraArt #CanberraArtists #CanberraEvents #ArtWorkshopCanberra #CanberraArtWorkshops

🌟 Now Showing 🌟 Partial Index | Dörte Conroy With this new body of work, Dörte Conroy introduces collaged imagery drawn from a collection of documentary photography spanning the late nineteenth century through to the 1990s. Removed from the original context, these images carry traces of lived history, memory and observation. Dörte combines these photographic fragments with vivid blocks of colour, creating a visual tension between representation and abstraction. Together, the historical imagery and saturated colour, form a layered surface where past and present, image and pigment co exist. 🌟 Now Showing 🌟 Bloom | Eggpicnic Bloom explores the persistence of life under pressure. In a time shaped by colonisation, human conflict and the consequences of climate change inaction, it draws attention to animals that survive within fragile and changing environments. Bloom honours the lives of animals, plants and fungi. It also holds space for hope, recognising the responsibility humans carry to protect the conditions that allow life to flourish.
