At Skoll World Forum 2026, we asked fellows like Lin Thu Hein, Co-Founder of @atutu.design , what they wish funders understood about social innovators.
Their answer? This work is risky.
The people closest to the world’s toughest challenges are building bold solutions in real time, often before the rest of the world can see what’s possible 🌍
Real change doesn’t happen by playing it safe. It happens when funders are willing to step into uncertainty alongside visionary leaders shaping a better future.
Leaders who are working in deeply volatile contexts face political instability, economic shocks, climate disruptions, and rapid changes as they find creative solutions to the world’s most urgent issues.
And women operating in these conditions navigate additional challenges.
Join us and Echoing Green (@echoinggreen ) on Thursday, May 14 at 12pm ET for a conversation on how women innovators are building lasting impact in uncertain landscapes. Our featured panelists are:
🎤 Cheryl Dorsey, CEO of Echoing Green
🎤 Nedgine Paul Deroly, Co-Founder and CEO of Anseye Pou Ayiti (@anseyepouayiti )
🎤 Muzalema Mwanza, Founder and CEO of Safe Motherhood Alliance

Ancestral wisdom carries us forward. In turbulent times, it offers the certainty, foundation, and truth on which movements stand.
At the Skoll World Forum, we caught up with #McNultyPrize Laureate Nedgine Paul Deroly, who brought this perspective to the gathering of 1500+ social innovators and leaders in Oxford.
Before co-founding and leading Anseye Pou Ayiti (@anseyepouayiti ), she spent several years learning from community elders, retired teachers, students, and family members, asking: How are we at our best?
This shaped APA’s work in building the first true public education system in Haiti, rooted in history and heritage, cultural assets, and language.
Today, APA partners with local civic leaders to equip generations of Haitians with the skills and knowledge to achieve their full potential, reaching 21,000+ students in the world’s first Black republic.

How do we strengthen the field of social innovation for the future, not just the moment?
That’s the question we kept coming back to at this year’s #SkollWorldForum.
From 40+ #EGFellows in Oxford to the hundreds of social innovators and movement builders we spent time with, one thing stood out: the future of this work depends on how well we build it together.
Grateful to be in community with people doing the hard, necessary work of building what comes next.

Please welcome Deshon Burgess of @echoinggreen to FELLOWS IN THE FIELD, a series where fellow @yurasapi interviews the community at our all fellows convening this year in Ciudad de Mexico 🇲🇽.

“But this week, I was not alone.”
That’s how 2025 Fellow Dr. Maria Uloko (@mariaulokomd ) described the 2026 All Fellows Convening.
This work can feel isolating. Building something new, navigating hard realities, and carrying big questions is a lot. AFC offers a chance to step out of that and into community.
For a few days in Mexico City, Fellows came together to connect, reflect, and spend time with people who truly understand. Their work and locations differ, but they share a commitment to change.
“I came back energized and braver, knowing that there is a global community building alongside us.”
That’s the heart of it. Not just funding or resources, but a community that shows up for each other during the Fellowship and long after.
Because this work was never meant to be done alone 🫂
Throwback to Oxford - and guess what? I am heading back!
So excited to be returning to the UK after two years to attend the Skoll World Forum at the University of Oxford (20–26 April), followed by a few days in London and Edinburgh.
Looking forward to connecting with the Eklavya community, meeting like-minded changemakers, and exploring new collaborations in education and equity. ❤️
If you are around - let’s catch up!
A huge thank you to @echoinggreen for making this possible. Always proud to be part of this incredible community.
