Following the outbreak of Hantavirus which occurred on the MV Hondius earlier this month, the UK Health Security Agency has reminded that general risk of Hantavirus to the public remains low.
π Worldwide, it is estimated that an approximate 10,000 to over 100,000 hantavirus infections occur each year with the largest burden being in Asia and Europe, however, to date human-to-human transmission of hantaviruses has been recorded but remains rare.
