I happened to catch the last half of their set and I regretted not seeing the entire thing since then. I was captivated. Not only did she demonstrate incredible technical ability, but her ability to converse with Idhaz through a blend of textures and melody left an imprint in my ear. A shoegaze symphony. After being brought up in the rigorous path of classical violin for most of her life, she is trusting her inner self to explore zones of improvisation with confidence and vigor. Influenced by her sister, she moved across the country to jump start her life and career as an artist — an architect of sound. These musical happenings were documented as they were played. With no run throughs and zero preparation. I am honored to share the platform with Emily Bouton, a violinist specializing in experimental and ambient music. Enjoy. - A. Quite possibly one of the most moving sets to ever grace a SMARTBOMB program, the duo (also joined by talented composer Christopher Moore for part of the set) embraced the space with a captivating & comforting blanket of frequency accompanied by the universe exploring immersive visual backdrop created & projected by Macro Waves @macro.waves .  The a/v set evoked deep emotion, eliciting a standing ovation from an audience in shock and awe of what was just witnessed. Thank you to Idhaz, Emily Bouton and Christopher Moore for an amazing performance and to Macro Waves for further visualizing the journey. Thank you to SFMOMA again for the opportunity and to all of our community universe that joined us for this special curation. 🌊💡On Thursday, October 2nd from 2:30 to 9:00pm, SMARTBOMB curates a dynamic program of performance and activations at SFMOMA, "WAVES OF KNOWING" featuring a live performance by IDHAZ & EMILY BOUTON at "Vibration Is An Invitiation"  in the White Box Room. @_idhaz_ @ebouts 🌊💡 IDHAZ is a producer/vocalist transporting through obscured portals to sounds of undiscovered emotion, past, future, and fractured light. He began performing poetry in 2010, and since then has become a magnetic, multi-disciplinary performance artist,  audio engineer, and educator in the Bay Area. Combining elements of gameboy, beat machines, harp, synth, and genre fluid vocals, IDHAZ creates visceral soundscapes to immerse into. Accompanying IDHAZ will be Emily Bouton on electric violin. Emily is a violinist, visual artist, and educator that uses strings to create sonic connection points wherever they arise - with projects spanning from ambient experimental to live tango music for elderly dancers.  “WAVES OF KNOWING” is a collective gathering of energy curated by SMARTBOMB and including over 20 Bay Artists sharing performance, visuals, films, poetry and more. Using a San Francisco Art Institute gathering from 1949, The Unknown, as a point of departure “WAVES OF KNOWING” explores the power of collective thought, motion, and creation.
