It felt wonderful to write about something beyond heartbreak this time around. To dive into and celebrate other intimate relationships and parts of life. Family and sisterhood. Friendship and an ever changing relationship to my body and my health. Solitude, stillness and nesting as part of healing. The power of home.

‘Light as a feather’ is out in the wild today! 🥹
Looking back on it, writing this song felt like the first day of a new chapter. I was in the middle of what felt like a storm..
A lot of my pain came from dealing with a vocal diagnosis (bamboo nodes) that had my voice in pretty bad shape and It was gonna get much worse before I eventually started healing.
Listening to this now I can hear the breathy rasp in my voice & I can finally listen back and smile.
Even though I was struggling, there was something quite liberating in writing whilst working with so many restrictions. I had to let go of old ideas of perfection and pressures I had put on myself my whole musical career. It is easy to say now that I’m doing much better but I feel like going through that was a gift. teaching me what true care meant and releasing the elements of my life that no longer served me.
So the song represents the letting go and looking ahead. I wrote it as guidance for myself in a time with so much unknown. And it worked. Music always works.
This feels like the finale of a long journey and it’s so special to me. I’m so proud of it.
