It's our honour to host the incredible 51st State Band + 51st State Big Band performance at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens. This is the @worldheartbeatmusicacademy flagship youth band, conceived by artistic director Sahana Gero.
The energy, talent, and passion the band possess uplift and inspire their audiences. And it is this spirit and legacy that represent the spirit of the World Heart Beat Music Academy – one that brings young gifted musicians of all ages, backgrounds and abilities together to learn and play together.
What makes The 51st State Big Band so unique is its commitment to learning and understanding the rich legacy of jazz. We're dedicated to teaching young musicians the orchestral heritage of jazz, with Duke Ellington's repertoire at its core; the 18-piece band showcases classic, swinging transcriptions whilst also providing a creative platform for students to arrange for the band.

INDIE-FOLK / CLASSICAL: Celebrant: Tom Irvine, opening artist Judith Parts, Thursday 4 June, doors from 6.00pm at #worldheartbeat Embassy Gardens.
Music is drawn from life and is filled with the type of experiences that guide the steps we take. It holds all the pain, joy, missteps, love, happiness, and wonder that make this adventure we're on all the more magical.
Tom Irvine combines musical styles in ways that take his listener on unimaginable journeys. What makes Tom's music so powerful is its genuineness. His lyrics draw you into his world, letting you feel the gentle, often thoughtful emotion, and his music paints sound as wild, vivid, flowing colours that can take your breath away.
There's a reflective beauty within Tom's music that is as calming as it is exciting and inspiring. Though it's always challenging to close our eyes when we're watching a performer live, during Tom's show on 4 June I encourage you to try it, just for a moment.

Album Launch: John Heavens, Ninety Minutes From New York To Paris, Saturday 9 May, doors at 6.00pm at #worldheartbeat Embassy Gardens.
“Big City Calling” is an assured début with a blend of intelligent song writing, brilliant arrangements and some great playing. Heavens and his team blend the various elements into a surprisingly homogeneous whole. This album really was a pleasant surprise. “Ian Mann, The Jazz Man review, 2008.
This review for John Heavens (@johnheavens1960 )’s debut album “Big City Calling” is a fantastic read. Not only does Ian Mann truly delve into the spirit of John’s album, but he has clearly connected to his incredible, unique, and utterly captivating musicality.
The success of John’s debut album has led to other releases and tours have established John as a versatile and original artist. Listening to John’s music is to connect to the honest, and at times raw, emotion he infuses into each song.
With his new album “Ninety Minutes From New York To Paris”, John continues to craft songs that beautifully uplift and offer a deep sense of love, life, togetherness, and beauty. Whether it’s “I.G.Y.”, a song that’s filled with a summer vibe and rich, positive message, or “Honesty”, which, with the sound of the electric organ, allows you to pause and take a moment to hear every word.
With jazz, covering other people’s songs is part of the process, but the way John reimagines the Beatles’ classic “Michelle” is otherworldly.
This isn’t just music that connects but music that comes from the soul, music that needs to be shared. We’re honoured John will be launching his new album at World Heart Beat on 9 May 2026.
