🟢 NEW WORK / @nuits_sonores Identity 2025 🔗 in bio Since 2003, Nuits Sonores has turned Lyon into an urban stage for electronic and independent music, filling the city with concerts, DJ sets, art, and culture. The only rule was to keep the logo. Everything else was open. We created a generative tool that translated rhythm into form, with letters and shapes moving like fragments of sound, vibrating, scattering, and reforming in motion using @mnkytype Klaus as a typographic base. The identity extended across signage, posters, screens, stage visuals, merch, programs, and more... A black-and-white base charged with neon green 🟢, soon adopted by festivalgoers in outfits, glowsticks, makeup, and hair dye. That green became a symbol of participation, glowing through lights and lasers across the city. Big thanks to @arty.farty.eu & Julien Roche, Mathis Alexandre for inviting us to do the project – and doing a wonderful job adapting the work. And HUGE thanks to the great @burnier for the collaboration, development and production of the generative tool (there were a lot of tools 🛠️ before the final!) 🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢 #NuitsSonores2025 #GenerativeDesign #VisualIdentity #DesignSystem

🔵Coinbase | 2025 Davos World Economic Forum 🔵 ➡️ dia.tv/coinbase-davos When Coinbase took the stage at the 2025 World Economic Forum, we helped them stand alongside traditional banks while making a distinctly modern statement. Our strategy, concept, and design brought a new sense of craft and cultural energy to an environment typically defined by convention. Together with our production partner, @brandnewschool Brand New School, we activated the design across every detail, from motion graphics and digital signage to editorial spreads, posters, and event collateral. Generative Kinetic Identity for this years @biennale.design.graphique titled “VIRAL”. Now live at dia.tv (link in bio) . Huge thanks to wonderful team at @lesigne_cndg for trusting us with this amazing project. And a huge 🙇‍♀️ to our friend and collaborator @gilianecachin for her typographic eye and bringing the system to life in the beautiful catalog. 📷 Nicolas Waltefaugle #visualidentity #graphicdesign #design #kineticidentity #motiongraphics #typography #editorialdesign #branding #bookdesign #generativedesign #motiondesign #designsystem

@ecal_ch @ecal_graphic_design Workshop (In Progress) “Tension & Release” 27 students building their own generative design instruments. Imagine a synth rack for graphic design. By the end of the week they’ll have exponentially more instruments than people in the room. Every instrument playable by anyone, producing consistent results because the intelligence is in the system, not the operator. Work authored by the system builder, the operator just tests, experiments and curates. In this workshop, students don’t learn design by learning software. They learn it by building instruments and playing them. Build an instrument, break it to the edges, build it further. Define constraints, improvise within them, generate takes, select. Repeat with increasing complexity. By Friday the systems are sophisticated but the method never changes. Rules first. Freedom after. This week’s work is part of Vibrations Forward, a larger ECAL research project with @joelvacheron , Francis Baudevin, @angbenedetto and Olympe Boutaghane examining the Vibrations magazine archives (1991–2013). Full exhibition this fall in Lausanne. Workshop results to be published via @dia_education and Substack #graphicdesign #designeducation #generativedesign #diastudio #ecal

New Year New Tools! 🔨 Originally built for the CASA project curated by @latigremilano for @livingcorriere (Nov 25 issue) Now fully developed into a complex behavioral design software for our DIA Tools library. Crawling lines, traveling nodes, rhythmic systems. Live text entry, multi-line typographic handling, wave motion, angle constraints, preset save/load. SVG export, MP4 rendering... Featuring MNKY Elsa by @mnkytype Happy New Year! #generativedesign #typography #behavioraldesign #designsoftware

Tomorrow at 17h (5pm), our creative director @dia_mitch will give a lecture at ZHdK Zürich (Toni-Areal), wrapping up a week of working with third-year Visual Communication students on generative systems. @vc.zhdk @zhdkcampus If you’re in Zürich and want to join last minute, DM us! We’ll be talking about DIA’s history with generative tools, how designers can engage critically with new AI technologies, and why adaptability and strong craft foundations matter now more than ever. More soon! Including some great work from the students this week via @dia_education Here’s a small poster study built with the same methods we explored in the workshop. New Work! Spotify The Drop Weekly We developed the logo mnemonic, typographic system, and motion language for Spotify The Drop Weekly, a new editorial series highlighting the week in new releases. The logo tag remains constant, with only its background color shifting each week. A secondary system of typography and gradient patterns supports the core mark, creating variation within a unified structure that takes full advantage of Spotify’s new variable font. thanks to @antonin.work for the variable @cavalry.app magic 🪄 #SpotifyDesign #MotionBranding #Typography #VariableFont #PatternDesign #KineticIdentity

Internal tool developed for type system prototyping and @mnkytype Type specimen generation. Built to explore motion behavior, interpolation, and parametric control within custom kinetic type environments. Part of an ongoing library of in-house systems for the evolving tools.dia.tv platform. This tool was developed specifically for the launch of MNKY Elsa, @mnkytype MNKY Type’s first serif (Walbaum, Bodoni - Didone inspired) typeface. #DIAtool #designsystems #typography #mnkyelsa #generativedesign #p5

"Us, Me, You, Them, Here, There" The title of the poster we created for the @postersafari at this year’s @zurichdesignweeks Our poster responds to the theme "TEAM UP" with a generative design application that produces limitless compositions. Inspired by flight map aesthetics, it explores the interconnection and global reality of teams today. Remote yet connected through technology. The work is presented as a large-format static poster and a one-minute VR animation. The application offers extensive control over the system: line thickness, dot size, labels, arrow size and density, node behavior, and ambient animation. It can generate both high-resolution SVG outputs for print and dynamic video sequences, enabling infinite variations across formats. Exhibitions like this are also a space for our R&D like our platform tools.dia.tv #generativedesign #posterdesign #generativeapplication #creativecoding #zurichdesignweek #swissposter #processing #p5 @processing_core

NEW WORK! IBM x AWS 🚀 → https://dia.tv/project/ibm-aws/ We developed the campaign identity and motion system for IBM’s “Scale What You Create” campaign, which launched at the 2024 AWS re:Invent Summit and was prominently displayed on giant screens throughout Las Vegas. Our team pushed the limits of variable typography by utilizing Antarctica by New Glyph, with some code and Cavalry, to explore how far type could stretch in motion, and work across wide range of unusual fixed aspect ratios. The typography was complemented by IBM and AWS gradient mix, modular patterns, icons, and modular motion system. The system was designed to adapt seamlessly from massive OOH screens to smaller marketing formats, ensuring the campaign identity could last beyond the event. Thank you to the IBM and Eightbar/Ogilvy team for trusting us with this collaboration, and special thanks to our extended DIA team: Antonin Waterkeyn and Romain Loubersanes very hard work (and quick timeline!) #IBM #motiondesign #visualidenty #graphicdesign #branding #typography #variablefont #cavalry @cavalry.app

New work! Here’s our latest for ALT Games, a new indie game design festival hosted by @powerhousemuseum powerhousemuseum Sydney at PHIVE. We created a bold visual identity built around a custom logotype inspired by game controller icons, paired with a punchy black and neon green palette. The system extends across print, digital, and motion, capturing the energy and DIY spirit of the indie games community. full case study: dia.tv/alt-games/ Big thanks to the Powerhouse team for bringing us on board (and across timezones)!
