Early this month we had an amazing & inspiring workshop on Artistic Machine Learning #AI held by Frederik De Bleser and Lieven Menschaert (the Algorithmic Gaze research group) and organized by our department / Martina Menegon lecture “Digital Design & Virtuality” in collaboration with Coding Lab Angewandte and hosted by APL - Angewandte Performance Lab. The workshop “Pixels and Patterns” provided a practical overview on open source and accessible AI tools, teaching participants to train a personalized AI model by carefully curating and preparing the data and reflecting on how personalized models can be used as new methods and conduits for creative expression. The results in just 3 days workshop were stunning! We are so thankful to Frederik & Lieven for introducing us to their research and tools! Pixels and Patterns. Another semester ends and I am mindblown by what my extremely talented students created 💖 These past months we’ve taken a journey into the use (and misuse) of video (art) games material and language to create Virtual, Simulation, Interactive, and Game Art. 🗓️ Application - Phase 1: Online Registration & Portfolio Submission: 10-26 January 2024, 12:00 pm NOON CET 👁 (digital) portfolio: select your most representative artistic works and interests. Your works can be created in any medium and material (sculptures / objects / photographs / paintings / drawings / sound / video / 3D / VR-XR, etc.) and should be accompanied by concepts and sketches. 🗓️ Application - Phase 2 (only if selected in Phase 1): Entry Exams & Interviews: 26 February - 01 March 2024, on site / in person - time t.b.a. 👅 German knowledge is not required for the admission but, if accepted, you will have to learn the language before starting the second study year. 
Classes are held in German and English. 🦋 The class of Transmedia Art promotes experimental approaches and the development of alternatives by providing the greatest possible freedom beyond rigid boundaries of media, genres or disciplines. Forms of mediation come into view in all their diversity and interweaving: we value each medium in the spectrum and history of its identity.
