Holding a print of the generative AI work “Eco-Circuitry: Moss and Machine” by @catescalona , which is a speculative exploration of a future in which the boundaries between nature and technology blur.🪴💾 Made with the Coding Lab‘s in house Generative AI setup. Check the lab‘s website if you are interested in using it! 🪁

Early this month we had an amazing & inspiring workshop on Artistic Machine Learning #AI held by Frederik De Bleser and Lieven Menschaert (the Algorithmic Gaze research group) and organized by our department / Martina Menegon lecture “Digital Design & Virtuality” in collaboration with Coding Lab Angewandte and hosted by APL - Angewandte Performance Lab. The workshop “Pixels and Patterns” provided a practical overview on open source and accessible AI tools, teaching participants to train a personalized AI model by carefully curating and preparing the data and reflecting on how personalized models can be used as new methods and conduits for creative expression. The results in just 3 days workshop were stunning! We are so thankful to Frederik & Lieven for introducing us to their research and tools! Pixels and Patterns. The Visualizing Complexity Science Workshop 2024 is officially underway! Experts from the global #art, #science, #journalism, and #visualization communities have come together, kicking things off with an energetic speed-dating session to get acquainted. The excitement is building for this 5-day immersive experience, organized by Liuhuaying Yang (@4trees.viz ) and Paul Kahn. A big highlight was Jonas Bohatsch, Head of Coding Lab, who introduced participants to a cutting-edge workstation equipped with the latest generative art and physical computing technology —tools that will be key for the hands-on projects throughout the week. #complexityscience #data #workshop
