The city is as much a solution as it is a question—a place of hopes and disappointments, of opportunities and inequalities. It transforms noisily, through new districts and large infrastructures, but also more silently—when neighbours share energy or organise to maintain their street as a collective garden. This exhibition highlights these quieter, immaterial transformations—contracts, values, rules—that reorganise how we live together. Through photographs, narratives and ideals, it invites us to imagine other ways of inhabiting what already exists. 📍 Exhibition at Magasin de Papier, Mons 🗓️ 06.09 — 19.10 (Wed, Sat, Sun 12–18h) 💡 Opening: Fri Sept 5, 19:00 👉 More info + register: https://ica-wb.be/fr/actions/a-ne-pas-manquer/batir-des-fictionstemps-darchi-11-utopies By @max.cunin / @build.superworld & @severinmalaud · With @broosstoffels · For @ica.wb · Thanks to @musees.expos.mons @loterienationaleloterij @aplusarchitectureinbelgium @villemons @aplus_archi

With Superworld, @max.cunin explores how the city could be reorganised through its immaterial ideals — its rules, shared values, and collective practices — sketching another way of inhabiting what is already built. The photographs of @severinmalaud create a dialogue between the imagined and the imaged, turning the everyday into the stage of the future, where ordinary gestures already become fragments of tomorrow. Immaterial transformations, often elusive, call for a new visual grammar. Together with @broosstoffels , we chose to let them emerge in the banality of the here-and-now of urban stickers. 📍 Exhibition at Magasin de Papier, Mons 🗓️ 06.09 — 19.10 (Wed, Sat, Sun 12–18h) 💡 Opening: Fri Sept 5, 19:00 👉 More info + register: https://ica-wb.be/fr/actions/a-ne-pas-manquer/batir-des-fictionstemps-darchi-11-utopies By @max.cunin / @build.superworld & @severinmalaud · With @broosstoffels · For @ica.wb · Thanks to @musees.expos.mons @loterienationaleloterij @aplusarchitectureinbelgium @villemons @aplus_archi

What if tomorrow’s city was already built, but asked to be organised, managed, regulated, financed, inhabited differently? A city both familiar, yet radically distinct. As the all-building approach is increasingly challenged—by initiatives such as @houseeurope.eu (@charlottemalterrebarthes , @bplus.xyz ) and longer-standing critiques from @cityofsound or @darkmatter_labs —Déjà Vus is a journey into a near-future already present. It explores what it would mean to redefine design and architecture in the already-built city through reorganisation, re-governance, and re-inhabitation.

They say that when you cross this city you meet scenes both familiar and strangely singular—where doorsteps, collectivities and norms are reorganised by immaterial transformations, revealing another way of living together. This is not a definitive blueprint, but an invitation to imagine. Imagined futures unfold in the everyday. Each scene offers a glimpse of how immaterial transformations reorganise the city, and reveal a future in the present. What if your building’s association ran like a civic board—tracking watts, litres and kilos, not just fees and conflicts? Not every transformation is loud. Sometimes the deepest changes happen in silence—within contracts, codes, and cultures that quietly reorganise the city. They shape how we own, govern and value, and can become fertile ground for transforming the city. What if every decision about your property counted not only for you, but for the neighbourhood—each wall, roof and garden contributing to the same city? “_____.” Contributions to Déjà Vus. We gathered provocative ideal statements from diverse voices—architects, economists, planners, intellectuals, botanists, makers, artists, and citizens—about how cities could be inhabited radically differently. And you? How would you imagine the ideal city to be managed, owned, regulated, financed…?
