As part of Studio ONB’s wider investigations into new models of community stewardship Ben has been working with the Friends of Chandos Road Gardens in East London. As part of this work we are pleased to announce that the Friends are looking for a new type of gardener. Part steward, part community coordinator, part educator – connecting nature, community and local charities to shape a new type of greenspace that delivers so much more. If you are have skills and experience in community gardening and curating and delivering community workshops we would love to hear from you! As part of a wider Project Cleaner Greener East London with Paint the Change. studio_onb We are looking back at some of work within the circular economy and re-use ahead of tonight’s Circular Revolution event with @architectsdeclare_uk In our work at Horatia and Leamington, Portsmouth we looked at innovative ways to use the left over concrete from pours for the building structural frame and the ‘cleaning of the lines’ from concrete trucks. The attached studies show how this approach might work as in-situ or onsite pre-cast forming landscape elements that create spaces that relate to the coastline and water.

We are looking back at some of work within the circular economy and re-use ahead of tonight’s Circular Revolution event with @architectsdeclare_uk At Ledbury Estate we worked with an existing semi basement car park structure to define play and MUGA spaces. The reel illustrates the proposed demolition, retention, extension, infill, activation and greening of the car park structure stripping back concrete and history to create new spaces in with the ghosts of the past.

We are looking forward to attending tonight’s Circular Revolution event with @architectsdeclare_uk And we wanted to look back at some of the ideas around the circular economy which are aways central to our work. These studies explored the re-use of concrete from a redundant car park as part of the regeneration of Horatia and Leamington Estate. The work related not just to the playful re-use of these pre-cast car park components but also to our take on seawater, erosion and concrete remnants in the coastal landscape.

Great to start sketching on Broomfield House, considering what can be saved and to how to re-purpose relics. Next job to look at the interaction of these relics with both a colonising nature and the history of horticulture on the site.

We’re pleased to share that Commerce Road with Karakusevic Carson Architects has been shortlisted for the @nlalondon Awards 2025. The architectural proposals for 124 socially rented homes are centred around a forested courtyard. A green core which facilitates a daily connection to nature as residents pass through the architectural colonnade to block entrances. Playful interventions are woven through the space engaging people with nature while one significant piece of play - in the form of a giant slide - provides both a playful edge and focal point within the space.

BROOMFIELD PARK An exiting day to at last get inside Broomfield House. The damage from the various fires is particularly aparent but so is the the potential of the spaces. It’s an exciting point in the project as we begin to consider opportunities to reveal the palimpsest of history while considering, with the community, opportunities within the deconstructed to engage with horticulture, nature and time.

LONDON CLIMATE WEEK x BRIXTON SOUP KITCHEN Recently we were invited to take part in The People’s Table – Food for Thought, Action and Policy, held in collaboration with the Embassy of Brazil and the Brixton Soup Kitchen as part of London’s Climate Action Week. Ben spoke about the role of landscape architecture - and urban greening in particular - in tackling the wide range of environmental challenges faced by cities, and the importance of community projects in fostering a sense of care and stewardship for green spaces. @ldnclimateweek @brazilembassyuk @brixtonsoupkitchen @peoplespalaceprojects @institutoaguasdoamanha @brixtonimmortalsdomino
