Sharing a print that never made it to the gram, because this was a special one I made for @etrulson + @traviskray a while back. Drawing inspiration from the Nolli Map to invert Williamsburg, two specific blocks are removed for emphasis on their home and wedding venue locations. The ink color is inspired by a stylish look from Travis on his wedding day, with the tiniest bit of shimmer if you look really closely in bright light.

Before making the move to Detroit, I did one more printing demo on the Vandercook at @thegowanusstudiospace during Gowanus Open Studios and a little @lcdsoundsystem felt like the right thing at the time. You might notice a slight difference between this print and the final lockup…because sometimes the machine brings your type down too if you didn’t lock it up nice and tight.

In case you didn’t hear at #GowanusOpenStudios, I’m moving! As I get ready to make the move from Brooklyn to Detroit, I’m running a sale on all NYC prints until next Sunday night. This is your chance to get that print of your neighborhood for 25% off! Pickup available, or I can ship to you before I put everything in a truck. Visit my website and use code MOVING for anything in the NYC category.

@gemszine will be launching Issue 24, ‘Distances’ this Saturday! Join us for the launch, opening of the exhibition, and zine making at @finbackbrooklyn from 5-9pm. You can catch a peek of my newest print in the exhibition, which builds on a previous print to make a pair. Hint: it’s one of my all time favorite places and I’m seemingly one of the few people not vacationing there this summer. Throwing it back 6 years to my last visit and sharing some inspiration for this one.

Sharing a new print that hasn’t made it to the grid yet! Athens–Detroit–New York–Paris blends the city grids in a 5-color screenprint where I really tested myself on registration. It might not be obvious at first, but I promise those are four slightly different grays I mixed, along with the Seine in a deep blue. Originally conceived for a @fieldoperations Positions prompt, I was thinking about what we learn from the shape of our cities, and as their built form evolves, what cues they might take from one another. These cities in the print offer some radically different grids for many reasons and here they’re woven together at the same scale. It’s been a long time in the making (transparency prints at Open Studios 2021 anyone?) but it was rewarding to finally see it come together in time for the @gemszine exhibition at @thegowanusstudiospace in March.

It was such a joy to host @gemszine at @thegowanusstudiospace last weekend for the ‘Place’ zine launch, exhibition, and workshops. The crew that came out truly were gems, including supportive friends who joined for our launch party ✨ and I finally did a letterpress workshop I’ve been talking about for ages! 📸 thanks to @kn_dsgn

Checking in to let you know that I’m still over here printing! I missed #letterpressappreciationday (yesterday if you didn’t know) to share this photo of me printing Cyclades on the Vandercook at @thegowanusstudiospace , but I am here to tell you I’m gearing back up for @fadmarket at @brooklynbrewerytastingroom next month! Save the date for October 14-15, where I’ll be hanging out with @kn_dsgn and some prints for sale.

That’s a wrap on my first FAD Market! I so enjoyed talking about maps, women’s rights, and meeting my fellow architecture nerds in Cobble Hill this weekend. Super impressed and inspired by everyone else putting their all into it at this market, and couldn’t have asked for a better table share buddy. Onto more maps soon 🗺️

The food ornaments might already be on the tree (a bagel and butter are staples on ours), but what about the holiday cards? Check out letterpress cards, new to @datumpress , which showcase Brooklyn neighborhoods with a simple copper ink to make it feel special for the holidays. Not specific to a particular holiday, not necessarily a holiday card, but something you can send to say hi from your corner of Brooklyn. Snag these (with new neighborhoods too!) and the Brownstone Bookend by @kn_dsgn at The Invisible Dog for @fadmarket this weekend! We’ll be there both days, 11am-6pm 🥯

If I was lucky enough to see or meet you at @pinkfrogcafewilliamsburg for the @_groundcycle market yesterday, you may have gotten a peek at the latest print in the bunch—Ann Arbor! I grew up in the area, so this was a favorite spot to visit even before I moved there for six years for undergrad and grad school. From the Diag to the Big House to the law quad (and Martha Cook next door) to north campus where I pulled all nighters for architecture school, there are too many nostalgic spots to share here, but I consider it one of my hoMes and highly recommend a visit. Dark blue ink contrasts with solar gold for the Huron River, perhaps a counterpart to East Lansing’s print.
