Weeks posts
Been allowing myself to find small pockets of peace in this post surgery, healing process, and finally sitting down to play some harp after not playing for over 3 weeks. I am als in awe that we are almost at the halfway mark at $7234 of the GoFundMe and my nervous system is starting to relax a little bit. Just feeling so beyond grateful and lucky right now amidst all the horrors of the world that we can find mutual aid, community, creativity, and rest, even if rare. Thank you for being here. āœØšŸ’–

I quietly launched this yesterday 🌿link in bio🌿& been slowly beginning to tell friends. I’m so grateful for the support that’s already come inšŸ’—šŸ„šŸ™ I had vocal surgery on April 21 and am now in the recovery phase, where I’m unable to work for a period of time. There is a GoFundMe to help cover basic living expenses during this time, starting with the first 3 months of recovery, with the understanding that healing may extend depending on how vocal therapy goes. There’s absolutely no pressure to donate! Just having this community in my life means so much. And if you feel moved to share this post or the link with someone who might resonate, that helps just as much. Thank you for being here and taking this moment to read this šŸ’›āœØ and a huge Thank You to Chris Spencer @values_lifestyles , Mazarine Treyz (IG Free lucky lady), Van Pham @van2pham , and Benjamin Ficklin for helping out this fundraiser together, I literally couldn’t have done it by myself and still learning to what do they callā€¦ā€receiveā€. šŸ™āœØšŸ˜ŠšŸ§œā€ā™€ļø Š¦ŠµŠ»ŃƒŃŽ 😘

Holy Cannoli😱😭We didn’t expect to raise this much so quickly. But more than anything, just feeling so unexpectedly held and supported in this strange chaotic time! šŸ›¼šŸ›¼This was my first time moving like this in two weeks. It felt like a tiny piece of myself coming back feeling joy and silliness dancing in the sunshine. šŸŒž This has been one of the hardest seasons of my life, and somehow also one of the most supported. šŸ¤ If you’ve shared, donated, or even just sent love… thank you. And if you feel called to keep this moving, sharing this helps more than anything. 🌿link in bio🌿

In 2 days you’ve helped me raise🌿$3776 🌿 Thank You from the bottom of my heart and the bottom of my belly laugh! Today I went to my first Vocal Therapy + Laryngoscopy (imaging) since my vocal cord surgery on 4/21. I will start by speaking 5 min in AM and 5 min in PM PER DAY progressively extending that length of time as the days go by! Today I got to hear and truly feel my own laugh for the first time in 9 days, and although I’m not allowed to overdo it, it was incredible. I teared up knowing everything still works ā€œin thereā€. I can’t thank Dr. Joshua Schindler, my surgeon at OHSU and my wonderful vocal therapist + speech pathologist Sarah Schills, who have been with me on this journey now for FOUR YEARS! It’s going to be a tough year ahead but I feel so deeply held by this community and feel so lucky. Thank you everyone I guess it’s a great time to be in school for Art Therapy, no? Lots of material to comb through and I get to be my own lil silly guinea pig. 🐹 🤭 Big Hugs to all šŸ¤—

Post Surgery Update: 4 Years after my diagnosis, I am so happy to finally be able to do this! So many of you have been so supportive on this journey with me this whole time (you know who you are), so I wanted to update you and thank you! Got out of surgery yesterday 4/21! I’m alive I’m resting and doing great ! During my vocal cord operation they found a cyst, a polyp AND some other bumps on a blood vessel running through one but were able remove them all successfully! I am on complete vocal rest until 4/30 when I start vocal therapy and can slowly start progressive re-introduction of voice use, starting at 5 minutes a day IF all healing is going well. No singing for at least 3 months, we take it one day at a time. If all goes well I can start singing for around 10/15 min at a time by July ! Those are the TLDR headlines. More silly deets below: The nurse that woke me up from anesthesia said HI! so I immediately tried to say HI! back out loud and it hurt so bad 🫣 I needed someone to literally bring me back to consciousness with a sign that says ā€œWELCOME BACK DONT SPEAK DUMMY YOU’VE JUST HAD VOCAL SURGERY!ā€ I’ve just been sleeping a lot and watching dumb movies and asking Chris if I could watch him play Zelda BOTW Vicarious Joy Style while I go in and out of sleep. Then writing notes on a notepad backseat fishing or cooking or asking if I can catch a few crickets because can’t help myself. šŸ™„ Chris is taking such great care of me and I’m getting lots of kind words + care packages from loved ones 🄹 been eating a lot of pudding, custard, apple sauce, and congee for the most part … THANK YOU ALL FOR SUCH KINDNESS AND SUPPORT DURING THIS TIME. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU. Love you 🄰 šŸ¤—

Healing Harp Sound BathšŸŖ‰ In February 2024, I took my mom to a healing #soundbathmeditation with a harp by @dashkasounds . My mom absolutely loved classes like these, but would never go alone, which is why she loved & looked forward to our girls’ trips. The session began with some light journaling and gentle movement, then we were transported to the heavens through healing #harpmusic. This was my second session of The Descent by @tasha_stew in #portlandoregon and I was hooked. Unfortunately, I also needed to grieve the very recent and unexpected death of my father. But I wasn’t doing that at all, even though it was my intention. Not that I didn’t try, it was just more of a time to help, heal, and prepare my mother for her end-of-life transition, the ultimate girls’ time together. She was battling stage 4 lung cancer, pancreatitis, vascular dementia, and grieving her husband in a new city & home. As my mom’s #caregiver, daughter, and bestie, I am beyond grateful I got to spend 36 years with her. I learned even more about her in the last year we had together, and I look up to her every month as her beautiful spirit fills the full moon shining bright on me. . . . harp, soundbath, spiritual awakening, healing music, missing mom, grieving girl #elegantlyhonest
