I’ve been working on some pieces that have been a collaboration between me and the TD system I created a few weeks back, one containing this really lovely feedback loop that feels like the visual is drawing in sand. It’s a passive system that can run on its own and creates new imagery every few seconds. I’ve wanted to make these into a series of digital paintings and have been working through what to capture and how. My decisions here are mostly time related; when do I let empty space back in so that there’s a clear beginning to the paintings and when do I start and stop the piece. I can add in a time component but there’s something about working with the art in this way that feels like an ongoing relationship between both the system and me. There’s so much to explore in this project and one thing that feels so special is that there’s so many beautiful images the system is creating that happen once and will most likely not happen again and I get to be the observer. A reminder that this, too, happens in the real world, every second, every moment. How sweet, how spectacular. #touchdesigner

i spend a lot of time going back into old work, digging into the AE files and finding new ways to work with a project. working with myself through the years to slowly perfect the thing coming out of us. this is really a simple compilation of mirrored variations, a hairy cell I created in after effects last year. the original was an experiment of lots of colors, added movement and adjustments piled atop each other (cc plastic + cc hair sorta shine here.) im self taught in AE, usually learning by clicking around so I don’t really have words to explain what’s fully happening but hopefully can recreate this in TD in a way where it becomes shareable someday. Until then, here’s to more experimentation, learning, re-creating. 🌱
