After two years in the making, we've finally put the finishing touches on our Cornish mine exploration documentary, titled: The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay. Back in March, we were lucky enough to hold a private preview screening at The Poly with the local community. It was a truly special night and was well received by the CBC and their families! The film is now officially entering the festival circuit, and we’re beyond excited to see where it goes. We've already received some great news that we can’t quite share yet, but we’ll announce it as soon as we’re allowed to! A massive thank you to the Carbis Bay Crew for welcoming me into their world and allowing me to tell their story. It’s been the greatest privilege of my career as a filmmaker! For over a year, myself and @samwardrop97 have been developing this series alongside @dansimpkins_ , and now it’s finally here. Last year, the three of us were lucky enough to travel to Senegal and embed with top-flight side Oslo Football Academie, capturing something far beyond the game itself. Senegal gave us incredible access, honesty, warmth, and energy. We met incredible people on the ground, experienced the full Senegalese culture of generosity, and witnessed just how breathtaking the country truly is. It’s one of the most beautiful and welcoming places I’ve ever been, and honestly, I could have happily spent months there. This documentary series is about telling human stories through the lens of football. Not the glitz, glamour, or headlines, but the people behind it all. The players, coaches, families, and communities grafting every day to build a life through every level of the game. A huge thank you to Oslo and everyone within the club for trusting us and opening your world to us. Excited to share my short, experimental doc about Sam Smith the Blacksmith! This was shot a little over a year ago and was put on the back burner as I finished The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay. It’s been great to return to it with fresh eyes and finally bring it to life. This film was a chance to really play with the medium, embracing film’s raw textures, whilst keeping in light leaks and scratches, to mirror the rugged, hands-on world of blacksmithing.
