I’m really pleased to share the thing that’s taken up most of my summer - Evolution Earth, the new natural history series for PBS/Sky/Arte. I wrote the music for the first and last episodes of this five-part series, which looks at how different species are showing their resilience and ingenuity in adapting to our changing planet, and ultimatley (spoiler) addressing how we might need to do the same. It’s been quite a big job - 110 minutes of music across 96 cues - and I’ve absolutely loved it. Evolution Earth premieres tonight at 9pm CDT/MDT and 10pm EDT/PDT on PBS and Love Nature in the US. Also coming to Sky Nature/Now TV in the UK, and Arte in France and Germany in due course. I think that’s all the initialisms out of the way. He was well aware of this project, and the bulk of it I ended up writing while grieving him, which made it at the same time both difficult and strangely comforting. And he’s present in it, not least in the sound that most epitomises him most to me - that of wailing electric guitars. @timetravelisdangerous is coming to UK cinemas on the 28th of March. This film has been a part of my life since 2017, when @chrisjreading asked me to write the music for a short film he was making for the @scifilondon 48-Hour Film Challenge - The Unreason. Many multiples of 48 hours later, and it’s here in feature form. It’s been great fun to work on, not least because it required me to cover just about every genre of music ever. It’s taken a few years off my life, but I’ll claw them back when I get a go on the adapted 1984 Reverchon Privilege
