8 weeks tracking and camera trapping big cats and large ungulates in the Mayan jungle with the most badass team of international scientists. Can’t believe I’m saying this but i miss you all so much I’d almost take back being covered in ticks, eaten alive by mosquitoes, and living in a constant state of damp grime to hang out a bit more! Until the next expedition guys ♥️

Checking camera traps in the vast stunning grasslands of @nstr_ap_ today. Walking in this habitat on ground level with tigers, leopards, bears, dholes, and many more iconic species is a truly unique and rare experience. But definitely has me thinking about that one visual advantage I have as a primate should I need it! You might have heard that dogs see in black and white - not technically true! #tigers #india #colourvision #science #biology #themoreyouknow

Very interesting evening at the @frontlineclub watching @sarahsrealjob ’s new film exploring the complex and controversial topic of trophy hunting. Whether it is a necessary conservation tool, or should be ended entirely. More to come from the panel with Sarah, myself, @amydickmanlions of @oxford_uni ’s WildCRU and Richard Pierce of the @bornfreefoundation - was a spicy but very open conversation. There is more to come from the event, and more events on the horizon, including Bristol on Thursday 21st of May at the Bristol Megascreen hosted by @wildscreenorg Was also nice to see many friends including my queen @lizziedalywild 🥹🧡

Honour of a lifetime to be invited to Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, what a wonderful evening shared with great friends, all there to celebrate the man himself, here’s to you David, and I wish we - and our planet - could have you for another 100 more. Huge thanks to the @royalalberthall , @bbcearth & @bbcstudios for such a special evening. 💚

A moment from the field, collaring F18 (18th female snow leopard to the @snowleopardtrust & @snowleopard.mongolia ecological study). Sometimes people question collaring as it can seem invasive, of course it would be ideal to never have to engage with a wild population at all’s but collaring can provide extremely valuable data regarding the ecology of species that are hard to to understand - such as secretive carnivores. It can help us understand how they use their space, how they disperse, how they hunt, what they eat, and how they organise themselves and compete. All critical for understanding how to best protect them and their habitats. It also helps inform us how to best support communities that live alongside them to reduce potential conflict. #fieldwork #snowleopard #biologist #expedition

The happiest birthday to the inspirer of the world. Sir David Attenborough, there just aren’t the words to describe how much you mean to us all.. and triple digits?! What a bloody legend. I’m sure I wouldn’t have become a biologist or be presenting wildlife documentaries today if i hadn’t been watching you on TV as a kid. I love this work more than I could ever describe, and I know all the others like me feel the same. So thank you so so much. To David! 🎂

Very much looking forward to giving next week’s lecture on tiger conservation biology to the students at the @universityofbristol - here’s a snap from my time with the Indian Forest Department a couple of years ago in Nagarjuna Sagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve with @hyticos - a fantastic organisation working to protect tigers. Snap from my talented photographer friend @ismailshariff 🐅

Little photo dump from a great week. Inspiring night at the @whitleyawards and bumping into the glorious @amydickmanlions of @wildcru_ox - we are on a panel together at the @frontlineclub on May 13 discussing the ethics and conservation impact of hunting following from a brand new film on the subject from the superstar @sarahsrealjob - seeing Charu speak about Sir David was also a highlight @snowleopardtrust 💛. And all the incredible winners and learning about their work! Randomly bumped into @ceci_vaga and @jonjo_travels on the way there and shred a slice of pizza Jonjo won - get in. Celebrating a massive couple of weeks for @lucysheps with @bremontwatches alongside @mehta_a @dwaynefields & @clairepriddy - also got to meet @elzthewitch and geek out about Age of Empires 😅 And a brilliant night watching ‘Our Land’ @our_land_documentary - which you HAVE to se, it’s so thought provoking and really opens your eyes to the lack of access to wildness in England - a large part focusing on estate ownership - for the general public… got to sit next to my fab pal @lizbonnin who I adore and hear from the director of the film @orbanwallace hosted by @aliceaedy (thanks for the invite 🧡) and @itslouisvi - who’s work is also very interesting involving music, nature sounds and storytelling, from a scientific lens… All before what is hopefully going to be a gloriously sunny weekend!
