We were on the bus last night listening to Warren Zevon’s “Night Time in the Switching Yard.” That got us talking about the greatness of Jeff Porcaro and @bobbyglaub (seriously how INSANELY great is the rhythm section on that track), which then led to the topic of Jackson Browne, which inspired me to dig up this clip of his version of Simon and Garfunkel’s “I Am a Rock” from the Troubadour, backed up by @danielrhine@lee.pardini , Greg Leisz, myself and @jimoblon .
To say that Jackson is a stickler would be an extreme understatement. But the end result is ALWAYS great and I’ve never seen someone care so much. The guy is still chasing perfection and it’s a wonder to behold. All the respect in the world.
It was an absolute honor to return to @thetroubadour this weekend with the house band for the @americanafest Pre-Grammy Salute to @john_hiatt_music , helmed by @maqpics and bandleader @danielrhine , alongside @jimoblon , @philipofthedeep , @mollyjay and Greg Leisz.
One of my oldest friends @drumboyed got me into Hiatt in the late 90’s and we’ve been superfans ever since. Total dream gig with a dream band and dream guest performers alike. It’s my fifth or sixth year in the drum chair for this annual gig and it absolutely fails to disappoint. Heart full. Brain empty. Martini time.
Our hearts are broken. Oliver’s treasured school home since Kindergarten, Aveson School of Leaders, is gone. Less than six months from graduating 5th grade, we grapple with the realization that Oliver won’t step onto the campus as he’s known it, again. So many unknowns. The community of Altadena has suffered unimaginable loss, and we grieve with everyone who has lost so much. But what hasn’t been lost? The spirit of the community, the helpers, working to support and love on each other. Together we are stronger, and together we will help rebuild. Here is a tribute to our beloved ASL campus, a thriving space of exploration, growth, friendship and love.
Finally coming up for air after an exhilarating performance at the @thetroubadour for @maqpics and @americanafest ’s Pre-Grammy Salute to Paul Simon. We had an amazing house band consisting of @valmccallum.7@lee.pardini@jimoblon@danielrhine and @mollyjay , playing some of the greatest American music ever composed with an all-star cast of incredible singers. Not a bad way to spend a rainy Saturday in LA. Congrats to all our performers who were nominated and/or won Grammys yesterday. Very proud to be part of this wonderful event.
