About the Chef

I’m Daniel Joseph Corpuz, a chocolatier and pastry chef based in New York City, and I was born and raised in New York City. Born in 1998, I am now 27. My parents are from the Philippines, making my three younger brother and me first generation Filipino-Americans 🇵🇭

I started baking in 2010 when I was in 7th grade primarily doing cake decorating. Here I began to do wedding cakes and custom cakes, specializing in sugar flowers

In 2016, I started my college career at
@theculinaryinstituteofamerica where I graduated with an Associates in Baking and Pastry and a Bachelors in Food Business Administration

I’ve worked in some
@michelinguide restaurants around NYC including
@themodernnyc @clocktowernyc @manhatta_nyc and most recently at
@onewhitestreet
•
As a result of COVID-19, I decided to build a chocolate brand
@danielcorpuzchocolatier . My chocolate work ultimately landed me an opportunity to be on
@netflix new show ‘School of Chocolate’ with
@amauryguichon which was an extreme stepping stone for me and the business I am building 🍫

I have continued to share what I do by doing pop-ups around NYC at
@kabiseranyc @brooklyn.pop.up @canalstreetmarket . And in June 2022, I was able to open up
@danielcorpuzchocolatier ’s first location in Canal Street Market.

I am a huge huge fan and nerd of
@starwars and even collect Star Wars
@lego sets. I’ve always been a scholar and academic in school. My favorite colors are grey and blue. My favorite food is fried calamari and my favorite restaurant is
@unclelouny in Chinatown, NYC.
