The new year kicked off with the unveiling of Artmospher; a state-of-the-art video wall public artwork featuring animated visual representations of original works by a collective of Canadian artists. I never thought one of my paintings would be sitting at the tip top of the @cntower let alone being utilized in a massive innovative augmented reality public artwork! This interactive artwork located on the Lower observation level of the CN Tower is a public art project curated and guided by @avainmotion . Each artwork is an interpretation of one of the 4 seasons which viewers can interact with by triggering animations with their movement. My piece was inspired by the nostalgia of hot summer days in my childhood and the anticipating of the Ice cream truck circling the boulevard. The jingle our Ice cream truck played in our neighbourhood was “Ice Cream man” by Van Halen (learning what that song was about years later was a shock lol). Thank you to the AVA Team for your guidance and support throughout this project!💕💕

In celebration of Black History Month, we are proud to honor the extraordinary artistry of Curtia Wright — a visionary creative whose work continues to inspire, challenge, and captivate audiences. Today, we not only celebrate Curtia Wright’s powerful contributions to art and culture, but we are also thrilled to officially announce her highly anticipated summer exhibition, opening this August. Titled Amensalism, the exhibition presents a dynamic new body of work that explores the complex intersections of gender, spirituality, mental health, and colonialism through a compelling host-parasite lens. Using handmade paper, drawing, and painting, Curtia examines how these forces shape, consume, and coexist within individuals, revealing the tension, struggle, and duality inherent in systemic relationships. Join us as we celebrate her talent, her impact, and the vibrant legacy she continues to build. Stay tuned for more details — this is an exhibition you won’t want to miss. #blackhistorymonth #riverdale #artgallery #blackart #curtiawright

Today I turn 34. This Birthday is extra special because I received the greatest gift of all; a fellow Sagittarius, my beautiful first child, our precious daughter Niyema. I’ve been a bit MIA this year for good reason (still managing to sneak in a mural or 2 😜). I’ve been enjoying my pregnancy and growing closer to my daughter with each kick, hiccup and wiggle in my womb. Blessed. Nothing can top this work of art!

"Swivel" by @curtia is now up out back of 81 Larch St (Medina Lane)! As the artist says: "The mural illustrates the protection against harm that aims to enter into your space. With two eyes facing the viewer, one of the woman and one of the canine, they form a united barrier of protection against any potential danger that is lurking." @barrydownepaint and @equipmentworld_inc thank you thank you thank you for making these murals a reality ❤️ 📷 @brandonmichaelgray @juanlacentral

How’s this wall, @curtia ? We’ll see you at you 81 Larch. Curtia Wright creates surreal worlds where sci-fi, dreams, and black femme power converge. Her electric murals reimagine memory, metaphysics, and mental health through vibrant, shape-shifting figures that feel like portals to new dimensions. Based in Toronto, Curtia is a multidisciplinary artist whose work dances between painting, illustration, and mural art. Her bold compositions often weave Caribbean diasporic narratives, mythology, and personal storytelling into expansive visual landscapes that invite viewers to step inside and explore. She’ll be transforming this wall next to Memorial Park over the next week or so, so wander through, take a peek, and watch her conjure a whole new universe right in the heart of downtown.
