We are excited to announce the launch of our newest Mental Fitness Training and Therapy Program dedicated to First Responders.
We are committed to breaking stigma when it comes to anyone seeking mental health supports. A community that has gone unnoticed for far too long are First Responders.
In Winnipeg and Manitoba, first responders, particularly firefighters, face high rates of mental health issues like burnout and trauma.
A recent survey of Winnipeg Local 867 members revealed that 98.1% believe job-related burnout is a serious concern and that work demands threaten their psychological health.
The Canadian Association of Mental Health also indicates that firefighters are exposed to significant trauma and are often not taught the necessary skills to protect their mental health, contributing to a suicide rate 30% higher than the general population.
Moreover, paramedics are at a higher risk of developing PTSD, with 22% of them experiencing it in their lifetimes.
Our first pilot project begins in Fall 2025. Through this program we aim to:
EDUCATE first responders using our Signature Mental Fitness Professional Development workshop series.
ENGAGE first responders with the opportunity to receive one on one counselling sessions using EMDR, peer support and traditional talk therapy.
EMPOWER first responders to build their own mental fitness toolkit through an end of training, in-person wellness retreat. These retreats will include various holistic practices and therapies - with the goal of giving first responders the opportunity to receive much needed self care treatments.
If you are a first responder or know of a first responder that would benefit from this program, we are ready to hear from you!

Science shows that connection is vital to health.
Regular social interaction increases oxytocin and serotonin, helping regulate stress hormones like cortisol. People with strong social ties have lower rates of depression, better immune function, and even greater longevity.
Connection isn’t just emotional — it’s biological.
Be still, notice what is moving through you today. Let the uncomfortable feelings be felt. Notice the sensation without labeling. Keep your awareness on the sensation and feel as it shifts.
