The traditional gabled form of the main volume is interrupted by a flat dormer extending from exposed chimney to chimney. The dormer cantilevers over a full height glazed exterior wall to provide cover for an exterior deck set into the roof framing of the one-story exterior porch below.

The meandering horizontal light elements are suspended from stainless steel tubes and braced by pre-tensioned cables. The organic shape of the sculpture required careful analysis to ensure proper load paths through the hangers and cables.

This installation, located in Stanford, CA, is the largest in this series by artist @leo_villareal . Standing 30 feet tall, the outer most sphere sits atop a concrete pedestal and supports two hanging internal spheres (both 20-feet and 10-feet respectively). Each sphere is assembled from custom fabricated “strut” and “node” members by @4thstatellc .
