This project was special to me for a number of reasons. Bluenote Records was more or less the soundtrack of my childhood. Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and John Coltrane were played on repeat at home, on cassette or by my Dad on the Saxophone as I tried in vain to get to sleep. Then, even in the years when I was indifferent to the source, I would hear it indirectly through producers like Madlib or J Dilla. Iconic, maybe the most of all labels.
So the chance to do something connected with them was such a pleasure and a privilege, for which I have to thank
@jculpeppermusic .
I met Joel around a year ago and we immediately bonded through music, aesthetic vision, fascination for the unconscious mind 😵💫 and a mutual reverence of the Sopranos. Joel is one of the best people I have met in recent years - a massive voice and even bigger heart. I’m so happy to have finally made something together.
We have big plans that I hope and believe will soon come to fruition. Keep eyes peeled 👀
