7 Lessons from April 1. Be spontaneous - I ran @alexandriahalfmarathon on a whim, signing up the day before. I built a strong base the end of last year into early this year, but had fallen off my weekly mileage all of April due to work and travel. With @rainmaker_75 heavy on my heart and mind I signed up and ran anyways. I’ve been trying to actively fight against my ever present Type A personality. And now I’m a half marathoner 2. Joy and grief can coexist - it’s okay to have both moments of happiness and moments of sadness. What’s important is being present for both and acknowledging each when they present themselves. But just because you’re grieving doesn’t mean you can’t also be joyous 3. Take the picture - I didn’t know that would be the last photo I’d have with Gabe. A few days later I shot an event and met a wonderful couple. The wife was trying to convince her husband to take a picture together which he wasn’t enthused to do. I told them about Gabe’s passing and he took the picture, and they thanked me and were glad to have taken the photo 4. Grief isn’t linear - there is a beginning, but there isn’t an end or a timeline. I’ve learned to feel my feelings when I have them, cry when I need to, and be thankful for the time I did have when I reflect on memories 5. There’s comfort in community - when you have community you’re never alone. Lean on your family, your friends, your people. They’ll help you fly on days you feel like you can’t even walk 6. Showing up matters - as someone that takes pride in showing up for others, I was able to be on the receiving end of my friends waking up early and go to a race to cheer me on for 10 seconds. Those 10 seconds felt like 60 minutes. I knew why it was important to show up for others, now I know how it feels to be shown up for 7. Everything in your own timing - the only timeline that exists is your own. Anything anyone else says is an opinion, not a fact. Trust yourself, trust your process, trust your journey #life #advice #lifeadvice #wisdom #explore

Race the Perimeter week! This weekend I’ll be out on the course shooting for @racetheperimeter supported by @lululemon . This is my first time shooting RTP and I’m so excited to see everyone’s faces running and partying this Saturday. These photos are from a shoot in March @annetteleephotography and I were models for to show the ‘26 merch. What started as a joking comment to model the merch in @jessrhood ’s kitchen turned into a full blown shoot with our very own creative director in @blakebuege 😂 Good luck to everyone this weekend and don’t be afraid to say hi, wave, shout, or jump up and down! 🥳 📸 @jessrhood

Last week I was invited to @fiolamaredc for a sunset happy hour to try out their new “Sunset Menu.” ☀️🍸 The weather on their waterfront terrace was perfect and the food and drinks were even better! The drinks including spritzes, martinis, rosé, and zero-proof cocktails. The bites were a variety of seafood twists including lobster donuts, wild kampachi almafi-style crudo, pink swordfish sliders, bucatini carbonara, and a marina platter on ice 🧊 If you’re looking to try a unique and diverse happy hour this spring, definitely check out Fiola Mare’s sunset happy hour menu! ☀️ #foodie #dcfoodporn #dcfoodie #eaterdc #influencer

Alyviah & Marc - 4.25.26 💍 This past weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the surprise proposal of my friend @lyvdmartin . This one was tough to keep tight due to having seeing Lyv twice already that week (one of the times less than 24 hours before 😂) This proposal reminded me of a couple things: 1. Love perseveres - Marc had every reason to postpone this proposal, but he was determined to do it on Lyv’s birthday and he was going to make it happen one way or another. We had two previous locations and ended up on this one less than an hour before, and it rained literally up until their uber arrived. Everything works out how it’s supposed to, especially when you lead with love 2. Find joy in grief - The past week has been very heavy due to a passing and I’ve found myself thinking of all the things Gabe isn’t around for. But that doesn’t mean we can’t find the joy in what was, what is, and what will be. Seeing Marc’s effort and care for Lyv and her day made me happy and reflective, and reminded me that it’s okay to feel grief, but remember to be happy and present in the joyous moments, because that’s what those we’ve lost would have wanted us to do Congratulations to Lyv & Marc 🥂🤍

13.fun🏅 One and done! @alexandriahalfmarathon @runpacers thank you for the time of my life! This race was so spur of the moment from registering the day before, to forgetting my shoes and realizing at the race, to then going home to get my shoes and coming back, to starting 20 minutes late when the start line was closing without stretching or a warm-up (if you’re 30+ you know how important this is 😂), to finishing sub 2 hours with my fam @trainwithmon 🫂 Major s/o to @bricksrunclub and @on cheer station for being so turnt right at the finish line 🔥 Y’all made the more quiet 12.5 miles beforehand so worth it, and I wish I could bottle up that feeling y’all gave me⚡️ I also want to shoutout my @teamafterone family for stretching and growing me day in and day out the past 2 years, @monalavinia and @_____javi____ for your leadership, @clarence_stanfield for your constant push, @runwithdami for those Saturday long runs that I NEVER thought I would be able to do, and every person who has run with me, pushed me, supported me, showed up for me, and seen more in me than I did myself. Most importantly to @trainwithmon , thank you for doing this with me. My love for you extends beyond words and definitely far beyond an IG caption 🤞🏽 @rainmaker_75 this one was for you. Keep inspiring us from above 🧡🕊️💙 Now y’all can stop asking when I’m doing a half, and no I’m not doing a marathon 🙂 📸 1, 3, 13 - @annetteleephotography 2 - @trackingant 6 - @neikogiannii 7, 10, - @sarahtruittphotography 9 - @_britttmarieee 12 - @firstdaughterphotography 14 - @_rachelnoelle 16 - @sallayshotit
