On the 14th of May, Praxis and other trade unions on the island of Ireland will answer the call of Palestinian trade unionists by taking action in our workplaces. Click the link in bio to email some of our major institutions asking them to commit to the PACBI principles. Feel free to edit the template - make it suitable for arts orgs you have worked with personally or that are in your own locality. Following Praxis' commitment in 2024 to become an Apartheid Free Zone, we have campaigned to pressure the places that arts workers work - studios, galleries, theatres, publishers - to become an AFZ, to support the principles of BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) and PACBI (Palestinian campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel). 25 arts organisations (listed in bio) have committed to become an AFZ. While this is a great start, it's not enough. Many Irish artists have been vocal in their commitment to the principles Palestinian solidarity. This is evidenced by the 2,473 artists who signed the Irish Artists’ Pledge to Boycott Israel and by the activism of high profile artists e.g. Sally Rooney, Liam Cunnigham and the artists who have been dragged through the courts for direct action at Shannon. Unfortunately many of our arts organisations have shown little or no leadership and commitment when it comes to Palestine. The ongoing and flagrant abuse of human rights by the Israeli state is a litmus test for what is considered to be acceptable by arts, culture and civil society organisations across the world. Boycotting Israeli academic and cultural institutions is a very simple and effective action Irish Arts organisations should take in advocating for the struggle for Palestinian freedom, justice and equality. We are calling on Praxis members, artists and arts workers to contact their places of work; studio providers, music venues, galleries, museums to ask them that they make a PACBI pledge and become an Apartheid Free Zone. ID: Image of a bus stop in Palestine with a sign that reads "to Gaza" (image by Emad el Byed). Text reads "Workplace day of action for Palestine 2026. Praxis calls on Irish arts orgs to become apartheid free zones".

The Department of Digital Humanities was delighted to welcome New Media Arts organisation Concept Null for two back-to-back workshops this weekend. Supported by the Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle EalaĂon, these in-person workshops were part of their four-day hybrid training programme to introduce artists and enthusiasts to TouchDesigner for real-time visuals and interactive hardware systems. The first workshop with Scott explored the world of Generative Visuals in Touch Designer while Walt introduced interactivity with the ESP32. Both days were packed out with artists and creators from across the island turning their creative ideas into reality. Prior to the in-person workshops an online introductory session was in February with a final art-crit session planned in March. Keep an eye out for future Concept Null events at / and sign up for their bi-monthly newsletter in New Media Art on Substack. ***/ @artscouncilireland @conceptnull @stephen.roddy @emer.yip @walt_needs_insta.grm @yulon.xr @cultureworks.ie @touchdesigner @future_humanities.ucc @uccresearch

Had an awesome weekend improving my @touchdesigner skills at @digitalhumanitiesucc thanks to @conceptnull and @artscouncilireland . Thanks to @yulon.xr for spreading the generative visuals love on Saturday and @walt_needs_insta.grm for hooking us up to ESP32 development boards on Sunday. Walter and Scott are two brilliant artists in their own practices but are also incredibly generous in supporting other artists emerging in this field and doing stellar advocacy work to promote wider recognition and understanding of the potential for this work. Thank you @stephen.roddy and @emer.yip for hosting. Had great chats with other participants including @animwal_ @serafina_tynan @jenniferredmond1 @far__ilo @jojo_hynes @etienneshrdlu amongst others. Heartfelt thanks to @abcarriestudios for the hospitality , drives and making it all possible. And to my lovelies @sopjg11 and @amandagordon1302 for looking me so well. Looking forward to seeing you all again in two weeks time

They explored how networked technologies shape perception and connection, asking how the conditions of digital encounter influence how we see others and recognise ourselves. We look forward to where the ideas from the residency take them ! The artists also participated in a panel at the opening weekend of @betafest_irl at the @betafest_irl , titled LIMINAL DIGITAL INTERFACES with fellow artists @hungluchan @restlessidiom moderated by @e.v_w_ It was also great to catch up with Cybernate Residency Alumni during the Beta Festival - @bonnielisboon @nadiajoearmstrong @stvpid.harry & @yulon.xr 💗 Thank you to our partners, collaborators and funders for the support! ✨ Especially @franceinireland , @galwaycultureco @polepixel @betafest_irl Á+

‘It’s about Bouncing around ideas, as opposed to let’s just agree.’ ‘I want to see more of these and see the community re-connected again!’ Just a few thoughts from those who attended the last BOUNCE live event. BOUNCE isn’t your typical design conference, it’s a deep dive into “the how” and “the why” of design, focusing on process, experimentation, and innovation rather than just finished work Expect: 🌟A lineup of international and Irish design leaders, blending pioneers and fresh voices. 🌟Interactive sessions that go beyond talks into real world approaches: sustainability, craft, emerging tech. 🌟 A chance to step out of routine, connect with peers, discover new ways of thinking and working. Secure Your Spot Today. 🔗 in BIO 📍 Trinity College Dublin 📅 16th Jan 2026. 10am-6pm ⏰ Secure your spot now ➜ https://www.bouncecreative.ie/tickets

Was wowed by @efadone ’s @betafest_irl @das_belfast installation at Riddel’s Warehouse earlier this week, so was delighted to be able to attend Day 2 of the conference today. Immersed in Fluid States, this year’s exploration of art, technology, and ecology from the deep-sea acoustics of @jldevicente José Luis de Vicente to digital subcultures, today’s sessions traced how artists listen, code, and imagine new forms of connection across water, data, and place. It’s so inspiring to meet other art and tech artists and hear what they’re curious about and the paths they’re exploring. Especially great to catch updates from @amiima333 and @lauren.m.moffatt ’s projects, and to chat with the indomitable force behind @conceptnull , Roisin Berg. Also great to hear about the work that @discuss_ai @adaptcentre are doing, and to see so many fascinating installations and executions across the programme. Loved the @molliemiamurphy.art sculptures and had great chats with the @ncad_dublin post grad students who have been working with @enterprisefablab and @creativefuturesacademy students. Huge thanks to @ashomurray for her vision and tireless commitment to hosting this annual event and supporting the growth of this field, and to all the volunteers and workers making it all happen. Thanks to the moderators and speakers including Fergus McAuliffe , @adam.gibney1 , @siomcdonald , @disnovation @martina_obrien_studio , @badaud_e , Rachel O’Dwyer,@restlessidiom , @e.v_w_ @hungluchan , @arnaud_laffond , Shane Finan, Dobz O’Brien Always a pleasure to meet the NI contingent @perpetualthrill , Dorothy and @seanjudee 😊. Finally thanks to @shakumakudublin @cloud_picker . Fab food and refreshments!
