Come hear Guido Reichstadter, the extraordinary father and former Marine who climbed the arch of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and remained there for five days, calling for an end to the war on Iran — as well as the wars on Lebanon and Palestine, and the unmet needs of people at home. Why did he feel compelled to take such extraordinary action? And what more we can we all do to fulfill our moral responsibility to resist evil policies being carried out in our name? Bring a story of an action you thought was effective — or an idea for future actions we can take together to challenge these policies. This event is organized and sponsored by: Busboys and Poets, CODEPINK, Guido Support Group, Nonviolence International, NIAC (National Iranian American Council), World Beyond War

Hot off the press! Come get your FEED THE PEOPLE NOT THE WAR shirt at this weekend’s Artists Against Apartheid Fest w/ @_nomu.nomu_ @againstapartheid.art @dmvpym or through our link in bio. This is part of our CODEPINK Cut the Pentagon campaign and initiative to raise $$$ for longstanding mutual aid groups in DC. If you can’t make it to the fest, submit your order at the form in our bio. Between the $1 trillion Pentagon budget, the $30,000 sign-on bonus for those joining ICE, or the $1 million spent per day to keep the National Guard on our streets, our government always prioritizes warfare but never welfare of its own people. This is the war economy at work. While the wealthy make a killing off of killing—occupation, detention, deportation, genocide, and war—the people are coming together to help their neighbors and directly impacted community members. CODEPINK DC is selling its first batch of t-shirts to raise money for @gaza.champions (all funds made at @gazathrift @againstapartheid.art DC fest will go to families in Gaza) with the following sales going to @dcw1mutualaid with proceeds going directly to impacted community members. Shirts are sold at a sliding scale price of $20-$30. The cost of the shirt is $11 printed by local artists and community members from @grand.buffet.studio . All additional proceeds go directly to mutual aid groups. The design was created by local artist @maspaz , part of the @411collective .

RALLY AND COMMUNITY EXHIBIT FOR NAKBA DAY organized by @dmvpym and endorsed by organizations across the DMV. Nakba Day first emerged as a day to not only commemorate the process of the Nakba in 1948, but also as a day to renew the Palestinian and Arab people’s commitment to resisting the ongoing genocide, illegal siege, and displacement at the hands of the Zionist entity. 78 years later, we remain committed to return and liberation, a road paved by the blood of martyrs, the leadership of our prisoners, and the ingenuity of our people. In DC, we will begin the day by rallying at the US Capitol. We will end the rally at Washington City Church of Brethren where we will host a community panel and exhibition highlighting our people’s steadfastness against Zionism dating as far back as the first Zionist settlements in Palestine in the 1880s to the present day. A children’s program will also be offered, featuring dynamic traditional storytelling, music, and art activities. We encourage people of all ages to attend to learn from the exhibit and to bring stories of resilience and resistance from their own families. 📆 Saturday, May 16 Rally ⏰ 12:30 PM 📍US Capitol, E Capitol St NE & 1st St 🔗 Orgs endorse: bit.ly/nakba78-dc (link in bio) Exhibit ⏰ 3-6 PM 📍Washington City Church of the Brethren, 337 North Carolina Ave SE

Are you READY for Radio Free Palestine?? 👇 In the spirit of solidarity and action, RFP is an annual, global radio broadcast commemorating the anniversary of the Nakba-- the ongoing displacement, occupation, and apartheid inflicted on the Palestinian people since 1948. In 1948, over 750,000 Palestinians were violently expelled from their homes in a wave of ethnic cleansing that sought not only to remove them from their ancestral lands, but to erase the memory of them. And it's still unfolding today. Checkpoints, sieges, bombing of hospitals, the outlawing of mourning, and more that has plagued Palestinian peoples for decades. It's what's been happening in Gaza, the West Bank, the annexed Golan Heights; it spreads into Lebanon as we speak, and the diaspora at large who are forbidden by Israeli law to ever return home. What we're all witnessing is a U.S.-backed military occupation that has escalated into what the global majority understands is a genocide. It's colonialism in real time. But to exist is to resist, thus even in the rubble, Palestinians resist with words, marches, memory, music, and more. And you can stand in solidarity with them from your Radio. . . Tomorrow, WPFW and stations across five continents come together to air Palestinian voices and truth, uncensored, uncompromised and rooted in Palestinian self-determination. Radio Free Palestine amplifies the stories mainstream media is burying, offers historical context, and connects listeners to the deep roots of Palestinian resistance. What’s happening in Palestine isn’t separate from what happens here (wherever you are): * the increasing police militarization in your city * the surveillance and “security” tech tested on occupied people and deployed in our communities * your tax dollars funding bombs that level schools * and countless more. Palestine is your struggle too. Tune in this Friday from 5am to 7pm at WPFW 89.3 FM or participating stations! (or download the WPFW app (Pacifica) to listen from anywhere, all day, on the go!) Free Palestine! 🇵🇸

In Congress, an Iranian American activist was arrested for speaking out against war. Another activist was arrested simply for trying to amplify her voice. Meanwhile, the people demanding billions more for bombs sit comfortably in the Senate calling it “security.” The same war machine that destroyed Iraq now threatens Iran with more death, more trauma, more civilian suffering: Families, schools, hospitals, entire communities. The American people do not want another war.

NOW: We just confronted war criminal Pete Hegseth as he entered a congressional hearing on the $1.5 trillion war budget. We demand funding for our communities, not for war crimes. There still has been no accountability for the massacre on the girls school in Minab, Iran which killed 168 people. We are demanding CNN push Hegseth for the truth about this war crime. Add your name to our petition at codepink.org/hotseat.

On Friday a group of us were kicked out of the Ai+Expo convention in Washington DC for sharing information about Israeli surveillance tech company Airis Labs. This company is supported by public dollars through the Maryland-Israel Development center and functions to surveil our communities; companies just like it are in active contracts with ICE and DHS. As we were being kicked out of the event the presenter said “we could do a demo just on this” referring to targeting and surveilling protesters, making it obvious that, to them, any type of civilian resistance is the same as a military target. Technology has the ability to help people in ways we can’t even fathom, and yet we choose to use it for militarism and violence. A war economy will not sustain us; invest in our public schools, our healthcare system, our communities—not militarism and imperialism.

Gus’ story is what happens when students realize their universities, research, and even AI programs are being funneled into the war machine. They want students building weapons for Raytheon and military contractors. Instead, students are getting organized against genocide, militarism, and endless war. We went to the AI expo to disrupt the Department of Energy because young people are refusing to stay silent while AI, energy, and academia are turned into tools for empire.
