Today marks the 78th year of the first major mass displacement of Indigenous Palestinians from Historic Palestine. How will you share/talk about the #Nakba today?
Today marks the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, and Palestinians continue to live with its consequences ā displacement, loss, and the ongoing struggle for the right to return to their homes.
āThis isnāt the second Nakba ā itās an ongoing Nakba,ā says activist @lanzybear . āZionism has meant violence for Palestinians from the beginning⦠We must study, understand, and educate on the history of the Nakba.ā
Nakba survivors and displaced families carry these memories forward. Umm Aboud recalls, āThe day we left, no one believed we werenāt coming back. They kept saying, āTomorrow, tomorrow.ā And tomorrow kept leaving without arriving.ā
Rami al-Sharafi and Aya Skaik in Gaza hold onto the same truth: āWe hold our keys as evidence of our right and our presence⦠The memory passes from one generation to the next in the same way.ā
Filmmaker @farah.nabulsi adds, āThe Nakba is not a thing of the past. Itās ongoing⦠There must be accountability.ā
The sound of the waves, the smell of delicious food, and a joy I havenāt felt in months. š
Cooked today for the amazing souls here, and the atmosphere was truly magical
Surrounded by so much love and resilience, I found myself laughing from the bottom of my heart truly, for the first time since this war began.
Good food brings us together, but seeing those genuine smiles and sharing this pure, unfiltered happiness... thatās what truly feeds the soul ā¤ļøšµšø
